Seattle City Government Holds a Symposium Entitled "Falun Gong is Good for Both Body and Mind" (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On April 12, 2003, the Seattle city government's Recreation andLeisure Department held a symposium entitled, "Falun Gong is good for both body and mind"at the Queen Anne Community Center. For a long period of time, local Dafa practitioners have beenactively involved in community activities. They offered free exercise instruction sessions inseveral community centers, bringing physical and mental well-being to many residents whose healthobviously improved. Seattle city government officials have also gained a deeper understanding ofFalun Gong.

State Governor Mr. Gary Locke sent a letter to this activity, showing appreciation for Falun Gongpractitioners' endeavor and wishing the symposium a great success. He said in his letter,"America is a multi-cultural country, a blend of multiple cultures enables the country tobecome more prosperous.... Compassion is a wonderful state of mind and has great strength. It canmake people become more harmonious and their lives more pleasant..."

At the symposium, a lady said that she used to be plagued by severe headaches and could not finda cure after seeing many doctors. However, two months after she practiced Falun Gong, the headachesdisappeared. She deeply felt the tremendous beneficial effect of Falun Gong. One gentleman wasinvolved in a traffic accident, and he could not straighten his back thereafter, living in a greatpain. But after taking up Falun Gong, the pain disappeared and he could move around freely. Anothergentleman said that after learning the five sets of Falun Gong exercises, his health was sound, buthe wasn't satisfied with this, he wanted to read Falun Gong books. While reading Zhuan Falun forthe first time, he felt that it was profound but hard to understand. He wanted to stopreading it several times but he didn't know why he couldn't, and it seemed there was a mysteriouspower urging him to read on.

The symposium enabled more residents in the city of Seattle to learn about Falun Dafa and furtherbenefit from practicing it.
