Song Xiangzhen, a 57 year old female practitioner, lives in the Tiexi District of Shenyang City, within the jurisdiction of the Shi'erlu Police Substation. She appealed for Falun Dafa on October 15, 1999 and was illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp for one year. In April 2000, she was detained again in the local police substation. She held a hunger strike, protesting against the illegal detention. A month later, she was released. In July of the same year, she was arrested again and sent to a mental hospital, where she was persecuted to the point that she became mentally disordered. She is now unable to speak or eat. She was released; however, in October she was arrested again. She held a hunger strike for nearly two months. During the detention, she was injected with medicine that can damage the nervous system. Her family members carried her home when the officials thought that she was ready to die, and released her. Currently she remains mentally disordered due to the abuse.

On April 17th, in a certain area of Sichuan Province, the local "610 Office"* and the Public Security Bureau held an emergency meeting to plan a local brainwashing class and intensify the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. They also planned to remove Falun Dafa materials-producing sites and to cut off the financial resources of the materials sites.

Many practitioners have been arrested recently in the Xindu District and Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu City.

Zhuanghe practitioners Zhang Mo and Cui Deliang were arrested while clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa on March 14, 2003. Police from the Zhuanghe Detention Center confiscated everything they had with them -- two pagers, one motorcycle and money. The two practitioners were detained in the Zhuanghe Detention Center for 15 days, and then secretly sentenced to three years of forced labor. On April 11, 2003, they were sent to the Dalian Forced Labor Camp. Zhang Mo was beaten by police during interrogation at the Xinhua Police Substation in Zhuanghe City. He was brutally force-fed by Lin Zhiquan, (Police ID: 209176) who is the labor camp's resident doctor, because he was conducting a hunger strike. They broke his teeth while trying to pry his lips apart to force-feed him. Cui Deliang, his aged father who is suffering from various illnesses, has been left behind with no one to care for him.

Police from Gulang County and Wuwei City arrested 18-year-old male practitioner Guan Yongqin in March of 2003 simply because he was talking about Falun Dafa and clarifying the facts.

Chen Yanxian, a 55-year-old male practitioner from Wuwei City, was illegally arrested from his home on or around March 11, 2003.

An elderly couple and two female practitioners were arrested while posting truth-clarifying materials one evening. Wei Xinhua and his wife have now been illegally detained for over one month.

The Shaanxi Female Forced Labor Camp formed a so-called "reeducation assistance group" which is made up of incarcerated criminals. The group was established to aid in brainwashing Falun Dafa practitioners.

The police refused to uncuff a practitioner so that she could use the restroom. She had to remove her pants with the handcuffs on. The handcuffs cut into her flesh deeply. She was kicked and hit while in the washroom.

Practitioners who had declared their previously-written "statement of transformation" to be null and void were hung by their handcuffed wrists by police. The police wanted to force them to give up their belief again. Some of the practitioners who are very steadfast are not released when their terms expire.

In addition, police in Xi'an City coerced and threatened practitioners into writing a so-called "Guarantee Statement"* renouncing Falun Gong. If they failed to comply they were sent to a brainwashing center for intensified persecution. The Xi'an National Security Bureau also arbitrarily searched practitioners' homes and arrested practitioners. Some practitioners were illegally detained in the No. 1 Detention Center in Xi'an City.

Song Shufen previously worked at the Headquarters of the General Staff. In the year 2000, she wrote, "Falun Dafa is good!" at an exhibition defaming Falun Gong. Because of this, she was illegally detained over a year and then sent back to her hometown and separated from her husband. In her hometown of Henan Province she was constantly watched by police. Later, along with her mother, who is also a practitioner, she returned to Beijing. In February of 2002, the local police department in Henan Province arrested her and her mother, using the excuse of security for the "Two Conferences."
