Electroshock Torture and Beating of Female Falun Gong Practitioners at the Urumqi Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Urumqi Labor Camp (also called Wulabo Women's Labor Camp) has violated the law and violated human rights in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. At the same time, they have tried their best to hide the truth about what they have done.

In order to improve the rate at which Falun Gong practitioners renounce Falun Gong, many policewomen from the Woman's Squad brutally beat Falun Gong practitioners. The brutality has the full support of high-level leaders, such as Ba Xiaomei, the director of the Women's Squad.

In February 2001, Ba Xiaomei, and policewomen Li Xiaoting, Yuan Tingting, and other police officers secretly used high-voltage electric batons to shock and torture Falun Gong practitioners. From evening to early morning, they took those who were determined to practice Falun Gong one by one into a private office. They asked them to take off their clothing, shoes and socks, and tied their hands and feet. Then they used four or five high-voltage electric batons to shock practitioners' feet, legs, necks, and faces. They continued nonstop, except when they ask practitioners whether they would give up Falun Gong. If they refused, the torture continued. Practitioner Zhao Yueming, Zhang Liping and several others were shocked so badly that they lost consciousness. The policewomen merely poured cold water over them, causing them regain consciousness. Then they continued to shock them with the high-voltage electric batons. Many practitioners were tortured like this several times until they couldn't bear it and agreed to write a so-called "repentance" letter. They had black scars on their faces and bodies from the batons burning their skin. Falun Gong practitioners Shao Guorong, Li Yulan, Zhang Guixiang, and Yang Xiaohui couldn't even stand up after the electronic shock torture and had to be dragged back to their cells. At least 80% of Falun Gong practitioners in the Woman's Squad have experienced such inhumane torture.

Besides the policewomen in the Women's Squad, some policemen, such as Ba Xiaoming, also joined the torture of Falun Gong practitioners. Once, he and some other policemen rushed into the women's cells holding electric batons in their hands and brutally beat Falun Gong practitioners. They also took practitioners Zhu Yingfang and Wang Chun into a single private room, hung them from the ceiling, and beat them until they lost consciousness.

Because torture had the support of leaders at every level, those who beat practitioners didn't receive any punishment. On the contrary, some of them were promoted for their work. In July 2002, Ba Xiaomei again used electronic batons to shock practitioner Ye Jinlan and force her to write a so-called "repentance letter." Since practitioner Xie Zhiying has not renounced her beliefs, she is still being brutally tortured and beaten.

The labor camp is afraid that their crimes will be exposed. Therefore, since May of 2001, they have prohibited the family members of the determined practitioners who have been tortured from visiting them.
