Macao Practitioners Commemorate the April 25th 1999 Zhongnanhai Appeal

(Clearwisdom.net) Four years ago on April 25, over ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners expressed their constitutional right to peacefully appeal to the Chinese government. With "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance" in their hearts, there were no slogans, no chanting and no chaos. The practitioners sent a few representatives to meet with government officials, asking the government to resolve the illegal arrest of Falun Gong practitioners in Tianjin and to return a safe and peaceful environment to the millions of practitioners of Falun Gong in China.

To commemorate the significance of this special day, Macao practitioners gathered in front of the News Department and distributed colorful balloons printed with the words "Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance" and "Falun Dafa" printed on them, as well as truth clarification flyers, to passersby. At night, they held a candlelight vigil in the garden across the road facing the Chinese Government liaison office building.

The Macao government has been closely following the Chinese government's steps in persecuting Falun Gong. After July 20 1999, all the practitioners in Macao were under surveillance. The Macao government now follows the Hong Kong government in legislating an "Article 23 anti-subversion law". The government even claimed that it would not go through a public consultation. At noon, when the practitioners were passing out balloons and flyers, two plainclothes policemen took photos of the practitioners. That evening, several people from the Chinese liaison office and five plainclothes police were monitoring them. They even openly set up a surveillance camera to record the whole activity.

In the face of the illegal surveillance, tailing, photo taking and phone tapping, the practitioners were not moved. They strive to follow Teacher's words and to use all opportunities to clarify the truth, send forth righteous thoughts and study the Fa.
