Dear Mr. Ambassador,

I met Mr. Lin Shenlin a Falun Gong practitioner in Ottawa last week, and was appalled to hear the story of how he was imprisoned for his religious beliefs.

Mr. Lin Mingli, a Falun Gong practitioner and a younger brother of Canadian resident Mr. Lin Shenli, has been jailed in the Third Re-educational Labor Camp in Shanghai for those same reasons. He is scheduled to be teased on March 26, 2003.

Amnesty International of Canada regards all jailed adherents of Falun Gong as "Prisoners of Conscience" and has documented systematic Violations of human rights against these peaceful practitioners.

The Canadian Parliament has passed motion M-236 with unanimous consent to call for the reunification of Falun Gong practitioners with Canadian relatives, and Mr. Lin Mingli is one of those 13 listed in the Motion.

As a Member of Parliament, I would respectfully request China to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Lin Mingli.

Furthermore, I request Chinese authorities immediately release all the practitioners jailed in China, and put an end to this persecution against Falun Gong.

If your government continues to ignore human rights you will never be able to gain the respect of the international community and be considered a just regime

Thank you for your attention

Rob anders, MP
