For Speaking the Truth, Practitioner Yang Runpin from Suining City, Sichuan Province Is Jailed for Three Years

Yang Runpin, male, 32 years old, is from Minfeng village of Pengxi County, Suining City in Sichuan Province. He graduated from the Sichuan Sports Institute and taught in Minfeng High School at Pengxi County. He began to practice Falun Gong in 1995. He has been well regarded among his family, school and work place. On July 5, 2000, he went to Beijing to tell the people that "Falun Dafa is Good." For doing this, he was escorted back and detained at Pengxi County Detention Center. Later, he was sent to the Xinhua Forced Labor Camp at Mianyang City, Sichuan Province for a one-year term. In the labor camp, he refused to write a statement to denounce Falun Gong and was detained in Pengxi Detention Center for nearly two years. His mother died years ago, and his brother is disabled and mentally retarded, so his nearly 70-year-old father had to go back to work to earn some money for the family. Yang Runpin is being held under extremely harsh conditions. He doesn't have any way to get daily necessities and clothing. The Pengxi County "610" Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and Public Security Bureau said that without writing a statement to give up Falun Gong, they would not release him.

Pengxi County Detention Center is holding many practitioners, who are being detained from several months to two years. We call for kindhearted people everywhere, human rights organizations and the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong to put a stop to such severe human right violations.
