Details on the Death of Falun Dafa Practitioner Wu Baowang, Persecuted by Police in Shuangcheng Detention Center

(Clearwisdom.net) May 3, 2002 Report: Mr. Wu Baowang, 35 years old, lived in Qunli Village of Qingling Township in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang province. He graduated from the Zhaolin Middle School of Shuangcheng city and was skilled in calligraphy. He was a kind, honest person. He began practicing Falun Gong in 1994, was very diligent, and made great efforts to introduce Falun Dafa to the public. In order to let more local people obtain the Fa, he spent all his family savings to buy a TV and VCR. He went from one village to another playing Teacher's Fa lecture tapes and voluntarily teaching people the exercises. He had been to all the villages in the Qingling Township and introduced Falun Dafa widely. When so many people obtained Dafa, purifying their hearts and upgrading their moral values, there was a notable reduction of crime in the township. Everybody in Qingling Township knew and respected Wu Baowang.

Since Jiang's regime started the senseless persecution of Falun Dafa and police began arresting practitioners, the whole society became terrified and nobody dared to say a just word for Dafa. Wu Baowang was the first to go to Bejing to validate Dafa. Three people in his family (his mother, over 70 years old, his wife, and himself) went to Beijing three times to appeal for Falun Gong. Risking arrest, he went back to Shuangcheng and Harbin to share his experiences with fellow practitioners, helping many in the journey of Fa-rectification. He also assisted those with financial difficulties. He became a main target of the corrupt officials in Shuangcheng city and No.1 on their "Most Wanted List". The third time Mr. Wu went to Beijing to validate the Fa, all three members of his family were arrested and taken to the Shuangcheng Detention Center. The police put him, an innocent man, in a cell with career criminals who were to be sentenced to death. He was handcuffed, shackled and experienced all kinds of brutal torture. The police tried to sentence him legally, but failed due to lack of evidence. Mr. Wu was then illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor in the Yimianpo labor camp, where he endured inhumane tortures, and was forced to do heavy labor such as lifting and carrying stones.

The head of Unit No. 1, Zhang Dianjun, ordered criminal prisoners (Li Baojin and Qiu Lipeng) to hit Mr. Wu with stone baskets. Under the order of police, several convicts beat him badly, one time breaking two ribs . He was forced to write a pledge that he would give up the practice. Though his term expired, he would not be released until he wrote the pledge. After returning home, Mr. Wu felt he did wrong and let Teacher and Dafa down. He wrote a solemn statement and was determined to redouble his efforts to make up the loss and catch up with the Fa-rectification progress. He did a lot of work and proved himself through his actions.

On April 19 2002, police and officials from "610 Office" went to the home of Mr. Wu's sister to abduct him and take him to the Shuangcheng Detention Center, where he was tortured. In less than half a month the police had beaten him to death. Just before he died, Mr. Wu shouted twice, "Falun Dafa is Good!" After his death, the police department informed his family that they were going to cremate his body. His family strongly objected, requesting an autopsy. The results showed his trachea had been injured by force, his ears were black and bruised, and he had bruises all over his body. Blood filled his stomach and intestines. It was horrifying to look at. Mr. Wu Baowang's family cannot find justice for his unjust death. His wife and elderly mother were left alone with no source of income. They rented two small thatched cottages and live a life of hardship. His mother hopes that her son's death will be exonerated and that people will recognize Jiang's regime to be murderers who care nothing about people's lives.
