Cases of Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Jinzhou City, Hubei Province

Ms. Yang Dingying, 38 years old, is a resident of Bailong Village, Jinzhou City. In December 1999, she practiced Falun Gong outdoors, and was arrested and taken to a detention center by the Security Section of the Fourth Machinery Company. She kept on practicing the Falun Gong exercises while she was detained, and was tortured by guards. She was released after 15 days of illegal detainment. In July 2000, afraid that she might go to Beijing to appeal, the Yulukou Police Station illegally detained her for another 15 days by tricking her into going to the police station. In October 2001, she was arrested by police patrols while she was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong to people. She was once again illegally detained at the Yulukou Police Station. She was abused and subjected to sleep deprivation. Since she refused to reveal the source of her truth-clarifying materials or to write a "guarantee" statement giving up the practice of Falun Gong, after 8 months of illegal detention, she was sentenced to one year at the Second Brigade of the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. In the camp, guards instigated drug addicts to monitor Dafa practitioners. Even drinking water, using the bathroom, and going to sleep was not allowed without supervision. During the day, they had to work for long hours. In the evening, they were forced to study brainwashing materials. Physical abuse was a daily routine, and it included sitting on small stools for the entire day, and various other inhumane treatment.

Zhu Jiayan, female, 40 years old, is a resident of Bailong Village, Jinzhou City. In December 1999, she practiced Falun Gong outdoors, and was arrested and taken to a detention center by the Security Section of the Fourth Machinery Company. She kept on doing Falun Gong exercises while she was detained, and was tortured by guards. She was released after the illegal detainment. In July 2000, afraid that she might go to Beijing to appeal, the Yulukou Police Station illegally detained her for another 15 days by tricking her into going to the police station. In October 2001, she was arrested by police patrols while delivering Dafa truth-clarifying materials and was illegally detained. She was not allowed to sleep for several nights. Since she refused to follow any of the police's demands, she was handcuffed for about half a month. Guards tortured her ceaselessly, so she started a hunger strike, and was then forced-fed and abused for 40 days by police officers and some criminals. Police officer Zhang Zujun said: "Mix the porridge with urine to feed her!" After 8 months of illegal detention and abuse, she was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp in June 2002, and sent to the Ninth Brigade of the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. In the camp, guards instigated drug addicts to torture her and deny her sleep. Guards, together with drug addicts, also beat her. Since she remained firm in her belief of Dafa, on the day she was released, a group of collaborators, (former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture) slapped her face with slippers and stuffed her mouth with dirty cloth. They clamored that they would beat the practitioners to death that day. Zhu Jiayan was forced into the Shashi Brainwashing Center on October 31, 2002 by guards of the Bailong Village and police officers from the Yulukou Police Station. She never gave up her belief in Dafa. One month later, she was illegally detained for another two months. On February 21, 2003, she was tricked into going to the Wuhan Brainwashing Center. Over there, three to four collaborators took turns torturing her every day, trying to force her to write a "statement to make a break with Falun Gong." Seeing that Zhu Jiayan's belief was unshakable, collaborator Li Zicheng beat her violently with books. This type of abuse lasted over 20 days, until the end of that brainwashing term, but she was still firm in her belief of Falun Gong. The brainwashing center had to inform the local deputy Secretary Zhu Lingli to escort her back home.

Yang Yufang, female, 38, is an employee of the Jinzhou City Towel Factory, Hubei Province. In May 2001, since she delivered Dafa truth-clarifying materials many times locally, she was reported to the police. The police officers staked out the area of her residence to arrest her. They also went to her son's school to coerce the 9-year-old boy to lie and say that his mom had abused him. Police officers searched her home illegally, and they took away her Dafa materials and her bank deposit book. She was forced to leave home and look for some work to do while continuing to deliver truth-clarifying materials. Later she was illegally arrested, and she is still being subjected to severe physical abuse while in detention. She is very weak right now, and no family visits are allowed for her.

Liu Yanqiong, female, 38, is an employee of the Jinzhou City Towel Factory, Hubei Province. After July 20, 1999, she was arrested for trying to go to Beijing to appeal. She was detained for six months and tortured many times. Later, her employer was forced to bail her out. After she returned to the factory, she was abducted again in May 2001 and suffered various tortures. She was sent to a forced labor camp, where she has been held ever since.

Lei Yongbo, male, 33 years old, is a resident of Jingzhou City, Hubei Province.

He was arrested for having gone to Beijing, and his whereabouts are unknown.
