UK Practitioners Celebrate World Falun Dafa Day with the People of London (Photos)

On May 11 2003, there was a jubilant scene in front of The Tate Modern Art
Gallery in London: UK Dafa practitioners held a series of musical performances
to celebrate the 11th anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the public,
and to celebrate the 4th "World Falun Dafa Day".
Located beside the River Thames, The Tate Modern Art Gallery
was especially beautiful on this afternoon. A large banner imprinted with the
words "Falun Dafa is Good", which was held up by many colorful
balloons could be seen from afar. The eight delicate brocades, showing the Falun
emblem and "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" in both Chinese and
English, swung lightly in the wind. The stage, which was covered with blue
carpet, seemed especially bright and beautiful next to the white clouds and
green river. There were tables next to the stage that were full of all kinds of
Dafa materials including leaflets and Video-CDs, as well as a table providing
Chinese calligraphy. Large display boards and pictures next to the main road
allowed drivers to also learn the truth about the persecution. An endless stream
of crowds stopped to watch.
The performances were rich and colorful. They included the
playing of traditional Chinese instruments including the Pipa and the Erhu
fiddle, as well as a flute; songs of different types were performed, several of
which were composed by UK practitioners. The lyrics of these songs were in both
Chinese and English. The most attractive performances were the exercise
demonstration and the graceful dances.
The flute performance mentioned above was given by an
11-year-old practitioner. Almost half a year ago, one practitioner dreamed she
was playing a Chinese flute and subsequently bought one from China to learn how
to play. Before she started, a little practitioner saw it. Although he didn't
know how to play the flute, he liked it very much and couldn't put it down, so
the practitioner gave it to him. To her surprise, in less than half a year, he
had learned to play it by himself. Now he can even perform in public!
The most touching aspect of the performances was the Chinese
songs sung by western practitioners. When they sang "Be Saved" and
"Lotus Praise", people could vividly feel the compassion coming from
the bottom of their hearts.
