Ms. Yang Hailing, 34, was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Jidongkuang, Heilongjiang Province. She was arrested for making truth-clarification materials and was sentenced to over 10 years in prison. Because of health reasons, however, the prison refused to admit her. She was then detained in the No.1 Detention Center in Mishan, Heilongjiang Province. In April 2003, many sites for making truth-clarification materials in Jixi and Mishan Districts were destroyed. The practitioners arrested suffered from brutal torture. When the police learned that Ms. Yang Hailing had also participated in making truth-clarification materials, they launched another round of brutal torture against her. To get more information from Ms. Yang, they tortured her brutally until she passed away. To cover up their crimes, the police secretly cremated her body and controlled the information tightly to keep the news from being made known.
