Practitioners With Paraplegia and Other Disabilities Are Imprisoned at the Masanjia Forced-Labor Camp

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Xiurong, female, lived in the Yongle Sub-district, Tiexi District, Anshan City, Liaoning Province. She has paraplegia [paralysis of the lower half of the body] and cannot work at all. She has been illegally detained in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. As indicated by the camp's name, one of the criteria for being detained there is the ability to perform manual labor. However, the Masanjia Woman Second Center (also known as the Liaoning Province Thought Education School) has been illegally detaining many female Falun Dafa practitioners who are completely unable to perform labor.

I was illegally imprisoned at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp around April 2002. In the fifth team of the third brigade where I was detained, there were two paraplegic practitioners. One of them was Zhang Xiurong. Her husband Sun Shihai also is a paraplegic and has no ability to work; he was illegally sentenced to eleven years in prison. Their nine-year-old child lost all parental care and was home alone.

Additionally, I often saw a Falun Gong practitioner, from the first team of the third brigade, having great difficulty just using the stairs, even when holding onto the banister. In the third team of the third brigade, there was a practitioner suffering from a congenital disability.
