Japan: Practitioner Calls for Help to Rescue her Brother, Wang Tongchun, Who Is Suffering Inhuman Torture in a Chinese Forced Labor Camp (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net May 28, 2003) My name is Tanaka Yuko. I'm a Japanese citizen. My elder brother, Mr. Wang Tongchun, is being wrongfully imprisoned in the Jiutai Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in the city of Jiutai, Jilin Province because of his practice of Falun Gong. Because he refused to give up his beliefs, his imprisonment was extended twice when his term was due. My brother is still incarcerated in the labor camp and suffering various tortures. His life is in danger. In the 703^rd death case reported by Clearwisdom, practitioner Mr. Sun Shizhong was beaten to death after being locked in the same place with my brother - the Fourth Brigade of the Jiutai Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp. According to a man who had been imprisoned in the same unit with my brother, my brother suffered severe persecution in the labor camp for refusing to give up his belief.

My brother is 53 years old. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. His neighbors often praised him as a good person. On March 20, 2002, police officers from the Oil Field Police Station in Fuyu City, Jilin Province broke into his home and forcibly took him away. Later, my brother was illegally sentenced to one and a half years in the Jiutai Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in the city of Jiutai, Jilin Province. After the labor camp extorted more than 10,000 Yuan* from my family members, they reduced his term to one year.

The Fourth Brigade is the construction unit. People held there are forced to do hard labor for more than 10 hours a day. After work, my brother is not allowed to rest. Instead, he is forced to receiving brainwashing through watching TV programs that defame Falun Gong. He is only allowed to have two very poor quality meals a day. Because of his injuries to his hands, my brother was unable to hold a shovel to do the hard labor. He was transferred to the Fifth Brigade. It is said that in order to try to force my brother to give up his cultivation practice, the labor camp used all kinds of means to torture him. They force-fed him with saltwater, ruthlessly tortured him and did not allow him to sleep. Seeing that my brother so steadfast, the officers of the labor camp called my brother's family and threatened that his fate was in the hands of his family members. According to people who were released from the labor camp, in order to conceal their crimes the police officers retaliated against any who exposed their evildoings. Two Falun Gong practitioners were secretly transferred to some other places after they told the outside world about the situation in the labor camp. Their whereabouts are still not clear.

On March 20, 2003, my brother's one-year term was due, but his detention was extended for two months for no reason. Before May, my family members called my brother. The hard labor exceeded my brother's physical ability to endure, and the brainwashing led him to become mentally disoriented. Even under such conditions, when his extended term was due on May 20, another three-months of imprisonment was forced onto my brother.

I hereby appeal to people from all walks of life, please help rescue my brother, who has been suffering all kinds of torture. His wife and child are waiting for him. Please help him to regain freedom of belief and the fundamental rights that all human beings should enjoy.
