Nine Practitioners Are Given Illegal Heavy Prison Sentences by a Middle Court in Changchun, Jilin Province

On April 4, 2003, a Changchun middle court secretly held an illegal trial of nine Dafa practitioners. All of the practitioners had appealed to the court, refusing to accept the illegal sentences they had received from their local courts. The middle court, submitting to pressure from higher authorities, ignored their consciences and rejected all of the appeals from the Dafa practitioners and upheld the original sentences: Zhao Guifeng was sentenced to a fifteen -year prison term; Ma Yezhi, a fifteen-year term; Liu Yaqian, a twelve-year term; Li Zhixiu, also a twelve-year term; Liu Xiu'e, a twelve-year term; Zhang Liping, a eleven-year term; Wang Liping, a nine-year term; Lu Xiuqing, a seven-year term; and Zhang Jie (male), a five-year term.

The appeals of these Dafa practitioners all expose the evil and validate Dafa from different aspects. Some of these appeals expose Jiang's persecution of Dafa; some uncover fabricated news from the mass media; some expose the physical abuse used during interrogation by the public security department; some validate Dafa using various aspects of science. Regardless, the middle court started the court session very hastily, ignoring the law or any relevant legal procedures. Without investigating any facts, the court just read through the so-called sentences within a few minutes and had the Dafa practitioners dragged out of the court without any explanations.

Other Dafa practitioners illegally detained in the Changchun 2^nd Detention Center have also been persecuted severely. Zhang Fan (male) was illegally sentenced to a five-year prison term; Zhang Yufen was also sentenced to a five-year prison term; Wang Yuling was dragged from the public security hospital to the court for illegal trial. Some of the nine practitioners may now have been sent to the Heizuizi Prison for more severe persecution.

PS: On April 7, three policemen forcefully abducted a female Dafa practitioner, taking her to the Sino-Japanese Union Hospital in Changchun for psychiatric torment. One of the undercover policemen is Wang Wei, who works for the Jilin Province Female Forced Labor Camp.
