Recently, some people who claimed to be Falun Dafa practitioners went around everywhere to ask practitioners for their names. They went to collect "signatures" door to door, saying that they would submit the signatures to the United Nations. The police have taken away some practitioners who signed.

While Ms. Bi Xiaojun, Ms. Xiao Wu and Ms. Yang Jingfang were being illegally held, police from the First Division of Hefei City's Police Department took turns unlawfully interrogating them day and night, and tortured them both mentally and physically. The police used various means including cuffing their hands behind their backs, preventing them from sleeping, and not allowing them to use the toilet or setting a time limit for their bathroom use. The practitioners were forced to sit still for a long time, causing severe injury and festering wounds on their buttocks. Some practitioners lost consciousness due to the cruel torture. Ms. Bi was cuffed to a chair for over 2 months, and Ms. Yang was cuffed for about a month. Ms. Xiao vomited blood due to the torture, and she suffered terrible pain. They are currently still being held in Hefei No.1 Detention Center.

Mr. Hong Weisheng, who is currently being held in Qinduankou Prison in Wuhan City, was sent to No. 4 Hospital after he suffered a ruptured appendix. During the time he was in that Hospital, Mr. Hong didn't get a timely operation and medical treatment. The doctors simply drew pus from his abdomen. At the beginning, the authorities blocked the information. After the news was leaked, Hong was sent back to Qinduankou Prison secretly, where they continued to brutally torture him. His family was not notified.

Police from the Wuhan City Police Department and officials from the "610 Office" recently went to practitioners' homes, and tried to force them to write the so-called "three statements." Those who refused to write them would be sent to a brainwashing class. Each brainwashing session lasted twenty days, with 10 practitioners forced to attend. The community and each Neighborhood Committee were allotted a quota to fill. In Jianghan District Brainwashing Class, six officials and police took turns persecuting one Dafa practitioner. They did not allow the practitioners to sleep. The police asked Li Youli and Wu Peiluo, collaborators who had already accepted the brainwashing, to cruelly torture Dafa practitioners and defame Dafa.

Recently, the Wuhan City Police Department has been monitoring Guangbutun Computer City in Wuchang. According to those in the know, the police followed several Dafa practitioners. They were searching for sites that produced materials clarifying the truth about Dafa, and for the practitioners who ran them.

[Note: "Three Statements" are documents coerced under extreme pressure, torture and brainwashing, designed by the Chinese authority to ensure that detained Falun Gong practitioners are appropriately brain-washed. The statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list containing names and addresses of all family, friends and acquaintances of the detainee who practice Falun Gong. This system was concocted by the "610 Office," an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.]

On April 1, 2003, 30-year-old Ms. Cheng Rong was arrested by officials from the "610 office" at Longjiang County Police Department, and sent to jail. Because she refused to cooperate with the evil persecution she went on a hunger strike in jail. As a result, she was force-fed and her life was endangered. For fear that they would have to take responsibility, the "610 office" officials instructed her family to bail her out on April 11. When her family members went to pick her up, she was carried out by 4 women prisoners, and had lost consciousness. She is currently in hospital for emergency treatment, and has been unconscious for 4 days. Her life is in danger.

The guards in Liaoyuan City Forced Labor Camp used wooden boards, plastic tubes, iron pipes, electrical wires, ropes and electric batons to brutally beat Falun Gong practitioners. They also punish them physically and force them to do heavy labor. Since May 2000, several practitioners have been tortured to disability and one to death. Liu Jiankun was tortured to death; Zhang Weixi and Qu Hongkui were severely injured and became handicapped. We have learned that in 2001, the persecution became even crueler, and more practitioners were tortured to disability. In March 2001, a large number of steadfast Falun Gong practitioners were secretly transferred from Jilin City. Their situation is very grave.

Mr. Wei Keping, is an elementary teacher who's about 50 years old. In spring of 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal, and was escorted back and illegally detained in the Yi'nan County Detention Center for a month. He was then taken back to the local detention center and was held there for over 10 days. He was forcibly fined 12,000 Yuan, and his salary was suspended. Because he clarified the truth to his students, he was then unlawfully sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp. He is currently detained at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Zhang Xu, 59 years old, resides in Shuangbei Guangrongpo, Shapingba, Chongqing City. At 5 p.m. on March 26, 2003, she was followed while clarifying the truth at the No.1 Kindergarten in her local area. Policeman Li Lixin and others from Shijingpo Police Station arrested her, and then ransacked her home. Her current situation is unknown.

A few days ago, 34-year-old Mrs. Feng Yunqing and her 7-year-old son were illegally arrested by police. It's said that her family members had taken her son back home She is still detained.

At about 8 p.m. on March 15, 2003, ten Falun Dafa practitioners in Kulongtai Village in Zhong'an Town were studying the Fa together. They were reported to the Security Team of the City's Police Department. Five police cars were sent, and the practitioners were taken to the detention center without notifying their families. The next day, their families tried all means and finally found out what had happened. Officials at the police department said that they would release the practitioners if they paid 10,000 Yuan for each one. As of now, one practitioner has been bailed out after her family gave the police the 10,000 Yuan. The other 9 Dafa practitioners are still unjustly detained.

Ms. Liu Wenlian, about 50 years of age, was arrested at home on April 2, 2003. She was sent to the brainwashing class.

On March 28, 2003, assigned by the City's "610 Office" and the Gaoxin Station of Gaoxin District Police Department, Wang Gang went to No. 5 Middle School, No. 9 Middle School and Songhuajiang Middle School in Jilin City to give a so-called lecture that defames Falun Dafa, deceives the people and poisons the minds of teachers and students alike.

At 10 p.m. the evening before the 2003 Lantern Festival, I was driving my taxi. My fare at the time was to take a man and a woman to their destination. After they got out of the cab, I found a big purse in the back seat. I opened it and saw a lot of money in it. Then I thought, "They must be very anxious if they discovered that they had lost the money. So I must find them and give the money back to them." I parked the car at the place where they got off, and waited for them. After a long period of time, they came back in a hurry to look for the money. When I returned the purse to them, they were so moved that they even didn't know what to say. They thanked me again and again. They said, "Nowadays there are not many good people, and there are even less people who don't keep money they find." They asked me for my name and where I live. I happily told them, "I'm a Falun Gong practitioner, and my Teacher taught me to be a good person!"
