Falun Dafa Association of Guadeloupe (France) Writes to the King of Thailand Appealing for Pirjo Svensson's Freedom

Your Majesty,

We are Falun Gong practitioners from Guadeloupe, a French Overseas Department.

We write to you to express our sharp concern over the arrest of Mrs. Pirjo Svensson who has been imprisoned in Bangkok for more than 3 weeks now.

On April 29 2003, the Thai police searched the residence of Mrs. Pirjo Svensson, a Swedish citizen and Falun Gong practitioner. They confiscated documents related to human rights and material exposing the abuses against Falun Gong practitioners in China.

The police revoked Pirjo's visa and forced her and her husband to leave Thailand. When she firmly refused to be deported without reason, the police locked her up in a jail cell with 100 other people.

Falun Gong is an ancient practice for the mind and body introduced in China by Mr Li Hongzhi in 1992. Since being introduced to the public, Falun Gong has quickly spread to over 60 countries around the world. Over 100 million people from all walks of life and different cultural backgrounds practise Falun Gong together in a common wish to become better, healthier people. Falun Gong has received hundreds of messages of support from different countries.

Frightened by the growing popularity of this practice, Ex-President of China Jiang Zemin launched a vast campaign to eliminate Falun Gong. He set up all kinds of Machiavellian machinations in order to discredit Falun Gong in the eyes of the Chinese people and the people of other countries, and to justify his abominable persecution often resulting in death through torture, abuse in mental hospitals, and long jail and labour camp sentences without trial etc.. Today more than 720 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death whilst hundred of thousands have been sent to labour camps.

Due to the censorship and a blockade on news and information leaving China, as we have seen with the SARS epidemic, the actual death figures are feared to be much higher.

Currently, with the help of human rights lawyers and legal experts, Falun Gong practitioners in USA and Europe have filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin and several top Chinese officials, for crimes ranging from torture to genocide. The crimes committed by Jiang Zemin and his Gestapo-like 610 Office are comparable to those committed by Milosevic and Pinochet.

We are hopeful that His Majesty will help Mrs. Pirjo Svensson be released and permitted to return to her husband, family and friends.
