Sweden: Practitioners Clarify the Facts about Dafa at a Chinese Public Speaking Contest

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 22nd 2003, Stockholm University, in conjunction with another Swedish University held a public speaking competition for students majoring in Chinese. Some staff of the Chinese embassy in Sweden together with more than 50 teachers and their students attended the activity. Every candidate was given three minutes to speak.

Among the more than 20 candidates, there were two Falun Gong practitioners. One was a young man, a student at the University and the other was a lady named Ms Annie, who is currently studying Chinese at Stockholm University. They took advantage of this chance to clarify the facts of the persecution to people.

The young man told the audience about traveling to China and praised the friendliness of the Chinese people. Following this he talked about the practice of Falun Gong and how Falun Gong helped him to become healthy in both body and mind. Regarding the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, he said that this made him both sad and sorry because he loved China and its people.

Annie spoke about how she had been to China five times. She talked about her experiences of studying Chinese in Dalian after August 1999. She also told the audience that she couldn't contact her Chinese friends because of the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong. Like her, her friends all practiced Falun Gong. She expressed her earnest hope that the Chinese government would stop this illegal and brutal persecution as soon as possible.

After hearing their speeches, many of their classmates praised their courage. The Chinese Embassy officials seemed surprised at Dafa's popularity in Sweden. It was unexpected for two Falun Gong practitioners, among the more than twenty students, to say that Dafa is good and to appeal to stop the persecution. They brought a sense of goodness to the contest.

The speeches made people think about why so many people practice Falun Gong around the world.
