PROCLAMATION

CITY OF CUDAHY

PROCLALMEING THE MONTH OF MAY AS

FALUN DAFA MONTH

WHEREAS, Falun Dafa, also called Falun Gong, is a self-cultivation practice with roots in ancient Chinese culture; and

WHEREAS, consisting of five gentle exercises and meditation, Falun Dafa emphasizes the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance; and

WHEREAS, it was introduced to the general public in China in 1992, by Mr. Li Hongzhi, and has helped people worldwide improve their mind, body and spirit; and

WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is practiced by more than 100 million people in 60 countries; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Li Hongzhi has been honored by officials all over the world with over 700 awards and honors, and is a two-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee; and

WHEREAS, the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners is an attack on basic -human rights and should not be tolerated anywhere in the world.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT Mayor Raymond Glowacki calls upon the government of the People's Republic of China to cease its persecution of Falun Dafia practitioners immediately, and release all Falun Dafa practitioners from detention immediately;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to the Honorable George W. Bush, President of the United States; the Honorable Colin L. Powell, Secretary of State, United States of America; the Honorable Jim Doyle, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, and the Honorable Yang Jiechi, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Washington, D.C.;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor Raymond Glowacki hereby proclaims and recognizes the month of May as FALUN DAFA MONTH.
