European Friends of Falun Gong asks Members to Support the Lawsuit Against Jiang

Dear Members

We are appealing to you as a valued member of European Friends of Falun Gong for support in filing a lawsuit against former Chinese President Jiang Zemin for the atrocities he has committed against Falun Gong practitioners in China since July 1999.

Individual practitioners of Falun Gong in Chicago have already filed a lawsuit against Jiang in the USA for genocide. The complaint lists a number of causes for the lawsuit: torture, genocide, the right to life, the liberty and security of the person, and to be free of arbitrary arrest and imprisonment; freedom of thought, conscience and religion; the freedom to hold opinions without interference and to associate freely; violations of the above-cited rights and protections as embodied in customary international law.

As human beings, no matter what national, religious, or ethnic group we belong to, we fundamentally seek safety and happiness for ourselves and our loved ones. Unfortunately, throughout history there have been those who have robbed people of what they cherish most: their conscience and lives. When people are systematically murdered for who they are or what they believe, we call it genocide.

In the aftermath of World War II, the United Nations, the International Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Criminal Court, among others, were formed to guarantee that never again will the world stand silent in the face of a dictator's fatal madness. The right to live and to think freely was recognised as the fundamental human right, that which cannot be compromised.

Today, the world's determination is put to the test as genocide is taking place in China. It is waged by former Chinese president Jiang Zemin against over 100 million people who practise a peaceful meditation and exercise system known as Falun Gong. Hundreds of thousands have already been sent to concentration camps, and thousands have already been tortured and killed. Jiang's campaign to "Eliminate Falun Gong at all costs" is based on his own jealousy, fear, and hatred; mass-murder is never rational.

It is the responsibility of all of us in the know to pass on that knowledge to others. We are in the privileged position of being able to show the world to recognise the difference between right and wrong, good and evil and to allow them to save more innocent people from falling prey to an evil tyrant. We must stop Jiang Zemin from slowly eroding people's willingness to resist and oppose evil. We must stop him from destroying the spiritual, moral and social standards of mankind.

We believe that it is right that Jiang Zemin, the perpetrator of a four-year campaign of brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, should be brought to account for his evil actions in a court of law, and that the worst example of man's evil against man in recent history should be exposed to the world.

For that reason we would value very highly your advice and opinion on taking up such an action. We are aware that your time is most precious, but we would appreciate it if you could spare some time to complete the attached form and return it to us. Every petition signifies another step towards achieving justice and your support can bring a ray of hope to kind people.
