(Clearwisodm.net May 22, 2003) On March 16, 2003 police ransacked a materials center in Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province. They arrested practitioners Xing Guirong and Meng Xiangli from Jiamusi City, Guo Xiuyan from Hulin City, and 63-year-old Zhou Guifen from Jidong City. They also confiscated two copiers, one printer, and more than ten boxes of paper.

On the same night, the National Security Unit of the Hengshang Police Department brutally tortured these four Dafa practitioners, forcing them to stand with bare feet, and whipping their hands and feet with leather belts. Police stepped on practitioners' bare feet with their leather boots, pulled their hair, poured limestone water into their mouths and noses, and used many different methods to torture them. Because Xing Guirong refused to tell them her name, they tortured her until midnight. The next day, they sent her to the operative unit to be hung up. She was not given any food or water for five consecutive days. The police still did find out what they wanted to know. Finally, the police found out that Xing Guirong was a practitioner from Jiamusi City, and was on the wanted list.

The other three practitioners were sent to the 2^nd Detention Center of Jixi City three days later. After five days of torture, they sent Xing Guirong to the detention center. They interrogated her three days later, after she endured all kinds of torture, such as being hung up and forced to remaining in a squatting position for long periods of time. No matter how much they tortured her, Xing Guirong refused to answer any questions.

On March 17th, another three practitioners went to the materials center. The police, who had been waiting there, arrested them as well.

About three to four days later, the police ransacked another two materials centers. Items they seized included two desktop computers, one notebook computer, three laser printers, one CD burner, materials about local Internet information, and a list of 200 persecuted practitioners. The damage was great.

Xing Guirong and other Dafa practitioners were often interrogated. Each time the interrogation lasted several days, and they were on the verge of death when they came back from the torture.

On April 28th, Meng Xiangli started a hunger strike. On April 30th, Zhao Chunying started a hunger strike. On May 1st, all of the practitioners started a hunger strike. The detention center started to brutally force-feeding the practitioners. In the middle of May, practitioner Zhao Chunying died from the torture. The details are to be investigated. Later Meng Xiangli was sent to the hospital for emergency care and then released. Xing Guirong is still on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and torture.
