Dafa Practitioner Persecution Cases in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province

On the evening of May 14, 2003, Dafa practitioner Mr. Mou Jianchang clarified the truth and distributed clarification materials to the common people in Zaoziping Residence District of the Panzhihua Steel and Iron (Group) Company (also known as Pan Steel). He was illegally abducted as a result of his good deeds. The next day, his belongings were confiscated from his home, he was sent to the Wanyaoshu Detention Center, and he is now illegally imprisoned there.

Dafa practitioner Gong Xiubin lived in the Residence District of Midiqiao Railroad. Because he clarified the truth and distributed truth clarification materials to the common people, Mr. Gong was illegally abducted from the Pan Steel Police Substation by the police on the evening of May 14, 2003. Mr. Gong was sent to Wanyaoshu Detention Center, illegally imprisoned, and has been cruelly tortured ever since.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Hu Xiulian lived in Ganghua Village. Ms. Hu was an employee in the power-supply workshop of the power plant at Pan Steel. One day in March 2003, she was illegally abducted. After a few days, her husband Luo Yangsheng (also a Dafa practitioner) was illegally abducted from home. Currently the whereabouts of this couple is unclear. No one knows where they are imprisoned.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Tan Haiyan clarified the truth and distributed truth clarification materials. On August 25, 2000, she was illegally arrested and detained for one night at the third division of police department. She was cruelly tortured, beaten, and interrogated in turn for the entire night, and was not allowed to sleep. The Police Section Chief, Yue, beat her and attempted to force her to write a so-called "Repentance Statement."* Later, because they did not prevail, they handcuffed and hung her at the hard parapet. On the second day, the police sent her to the Wanyaoshu Detention Center where she was illegally imprisoned for 45 days. Later, she was illegally sent to the Zizhong Female Labor Camp in Sichuan Province. In the labor camp, Ms. Tan, like many other determined practitioners, suffered all types of brutal and inhuman torture. The torture included: use of high-voltage electric batons to shock various places of their body; punishing practitioners by forcing them to stand for a long time; not allowing practitioners to wear an insulated jacket or insulated shoes during the winter; exposing them to the intense sun during the summer; not providing drinking water; not allowing them to use the restroom; not allowing them to take baths; forcing healthy practitioners to be injected with drugs and take medicine; placing practitioners in cells together with drug addicts and prostitutes; instigating the criminals to beat practitioners; tying up practitioners' hands and feet. The primary criminals responsible for the torture of Ms. Tan were Chief Zhang Xiaofang and Secretary Qin.

Zhang Bailin, a police officer from the Panzhihua City Police Department, also brutally persecutes Dafa practitioners, and is very afraid that Dafa practitioners will expose the persecution facts. He does not allow anyone to send money or other items to Dafa practitioners in the detention center.

* "Repentance Statement"- In this statement the practitioner is forced to admit remorse for practicing Falun Gong, promise to give up Falun Gong, and never again associate with other practitioners or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.
