Clarifying the Truth to Citizens

The Art Festival in Kempton, South Africa, was coming in April. The pictures and banners that Taiwanese practitioners brought were all very useful. I went to City Hall and set up the exhibit booth with many kinds of Dafa materials, and a local resident who was interested in Dafa helped me out a lot. The next day began the weekend of the festival. Many citizens went to the Art Festival. I reserved about 20 minutes with event organizers to demonstrate the Falun Dafa exercises. Several people who were interested asked to learn about Dafa, one after another. Within two weeks after the art festival, I taught the five sets exercises to those people, and suggested that they borrow the English version Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Gong, from the city library.

Usually, the people that I clarified the facts of Falun Dafa to were city residents and sailors from China. The Chinese sailors were more or less deceived by the lies and propaganda in China. I tried to bring them as much truth clarification material as possible, hoping they could learn more about the true situation.

One street near downtown Kempton is said to be an area with a high crime rate. People are even afraid to pass through the area. One weekend, I brought Dafa truth-clarifying materials and walked there from downtown to hand out flyers and brochures. I was walking while spreading Fa to the people on the streets, including shop owners, pedestrians, policemen and gas station staff. Along the way, I was smiling at everyone I met and hoping that "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" would awaken people's kind nature.

Pressure from Family Members

I tried my best to take care of my school work while cultivating myself, and I didn't feel pressured by school work. My family, and especially my parents' coming to South Africa, reduced the burden of everyday living. However my parents were influenced by the evil propaganda in China, and did not have a clear understanding of Dafa. This made me worried and anxious. I was concerned about how to clarify the truth to them. I feel that I have to first do well in cultivation.

Recently, I read the news that U.S. citizen Charles Li was arrested in China, and that he had started a hunger strike. That triggered my thoughts about going on a hunger strike in front of the Chinese Consulate to support him. Upon arriving in the front of the consulate, I first sent forth righteous thoughts. There were oftentimes people passing by or going to the consulate for business. I told them about the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China, and that U.S. citizen Charles Li is now detained in a Chinese jail. There were several students coming to the consulate, and one of the female students knew me. I had talked to her before about the facts of Dafa. This time I gave her other materials that she had not read.

While I was doing the second exercise, I heard a car stopping in front of me. It was my family. They were very worried about me. On the way back home, I told my family not to be afraid of those people who persecuted Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Those people do not obey the law and will definitely receive the punishment they deserve.

Clarifying the Truth to Government and Media

To clarify the truth to the congressmen of South Africa, I reserved meetings and handed out materials in the congress building before my school exams. However, it is difficult to clarify the truth further and more in-depth. To contact those government officials, there were some limitations under the system, and special circumstances in South Africa. It is not like handing out the materials outside to the officials in the beginning. Before they really knew the truth about Dafa, they would already have their own thoughts. Regardless, it is important to let them know the truth.

Recently, I went to the TV center in the city of Kempton and handed out some CDs introducing Dafa, hoping that the people there could learn the truth. There is still so much work to do, but I feel that as long as I persist in doing it, everything will eventually change.
