Dafa Practitioner Ms. Bai Yuzhi is in Critical Condition Due to Abuse in the 2nd Prison of Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net May 27, 2003) Former Jingjing County, Hebei Province Political Consultation Committee Member and Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Bai Yuzhi (about 40 years old) is being illegally detained in the 2nd Prison of Shijiazhuang City. She has been on hunger strike since September 2002, and her current condition is life threatening.

Ms. Bai was arrested several times for her persistent practice of Falun Dafa, and was detained in the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp of Tangshan City, Hebei Province, where she began a long-term hunger strike. After over 100 days of hunger strike, and with appeals from friends and family, she was released on bail for medical reasons. Before she fully recovered, the police returned to harass her at her home. Ms. Bai was forced become homeless to avoid this persecution.

In early September 2002, Ms. Bai was arrested at her residence in Shijiazhuang City. She was illegally detained in the 2nd Detention Center of Shijiazhuang City. She has been on hunger strike since then and is very weak, yet the police refused her family's request for bail and illegally sentenced her to 4 years in prison. She is detained in the Women's Section of the 2nd Prison of Shijiazhuang City, where she continues her hunger strike. She has endured brutal forced feeding and other torture, and her present condition is life threatening. She is vomiting blood and her whole body is swollen. She lies on a bed, unable to move, but the prison police still refuse to release her, claiming, "The director ordered us not to release her."
