Dafa Practitioners on 22-Day Ongoing Hunger Strike in Nanyang City as Yuancheng District Court Hands Down Illegal Prison Terms

In early May 2003, Yuancheng District Court illegally sentenced many Dafa practitioners. Ms. Ding Jianying was illegally sentenced to seven years, Li Shuyin, Ding Jianying's husband to three years, and Ms. Kui Yujuan and her father Kui Yingxiang, to seven years each. The Second Detention center of Nanyang City sent Dafa practitioners Ms. Liang Xiuzhi and Li Shuyin to Xingxiang Prison of Henan province after they were also illegally sentenced to prison.

Kui Yingxiang, Kui Yujuan, Ding Jianying, Yang Guifan, Lin Yan, and other Dafa practitioners who were illegally detained in the Second Detention center in Nanyang City are conducting a group hunger strike to protest their imprisonment. So far, they have suffered from being brutally force-fed for 22 days, which is endangering their lives. The Second Detention Center refused to permit visits by family members, citing the need to "protect them from SARS" as an excuse to block news about the prisoners.

We hope that fellow practitioners will send forth strong righteous thoughts together to eliminate all evil factors, and make the misguided government agents free all illegally detained Dafa practitioners unconditionally.

At the end of April and on May 14, 2001, Dafa practitioners in Nanyang City put several loud speakers broadcasting the facts about Falun Gong near the First Detention Center, the Administrative Detention Center, and the Second Detention Center of Nanyang City. Dafa practitioners are detained in all three of these detention centers. When articles and news about Dafa were heard from the loud speakers outside the walls of the three detention centers the next morning, it greatly encouraged the Dafa practitioners detained in the prisons.

Ms. Zhou Shuhua, 60 years old, was abducted from her home in May 2001. Although she was detained in the detention center in Nanyang City for a long time, she still believes in Dafa steadfastly. In June 2002, Yuancheng District Court of Nanyang City secretly convened and conducted her trial. After sentencing, she was sent to the Xinxiang prison.

The brainwashing class in Nanyang Political and Law College has detained Dafa practitioner Fu Xiuyuen, his uncle from Deng County, and an elderly female Dafa practitioner from Tongbo County.
