A brainwashing center in Qiaokou Precinct is located at Zhanggongdi, Etouwan District, Gutian Prefecture in a three-story building surrounded by a three-meter wall. The brainwashing center was built in what used to be a vegetable garden for the detention center across the street. The 610 Office* built the brainwashing center in 2001 with taxpayers' money.

Behind the gate, a banner deceptively proclaims: "We touch people's innermost feelings, we persuade them with reason and we joyfully educate people". In reality, secret torture and cruel acts against kindhearted Falun Dafa practitioners occur here on a daily basis. The first floor of the building is the office area, the second floor is used to detain women, and the third floor is used to detain men, all of them Falun Gong practitioners. Every floor has 6 or 7 rooms, each housing one practitioner. Three staff members watch each practitioner. The staff members live in the same room with the practitioners and watch them 24 hours a day. Practitioners have no personal freedom at all. Most of the practitioners are brought to the brainwashing center tied up or handcuffed.

After the practitioners' arrival in the brainwashing center, the staff torture the practitioners, beating them or suspending them by handcuffs to force them to give up their belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance". For example, they forced a lady in her sixties to stand on the wet lawn for eight days. Her hands were tied to her back and she was not allowed to sleep, constantly bitten by mosquitoes. They often tied practitioners to the window, recording the treatment as 'confinement' in the logbook. One practitioner went on a 58-day hunger strike. He was repeatedly sent to the hospital but was denied admission. In the end, he was carried home.

A forty-year-old female practitioner went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. She was suspended in painful positions with a rope repeatedly over a period of 10 days. Five or six male guards force-fed her and knocked out several of her teeth. She suffered many kinds of torture.

A male practitioner was unjustly sentenced to two years in labor camp. After he completed his term, he was sent to the brainwashing center. The police beat him with their fists and kicked him with their heavy leather boots. He was once suspended in a painful position by a rope for 24 hours continuously. He went on a 40-day hunger strike to protest this inhuman torture. His internal organs suffered severe damage and he became emaciated. He was so weak that he could only lie in bed without being able to move his body. Despite his poor physical condition, the guards still placed a TV at the foot of his bed with videos slandering Falun Dafa to brainwash him.

In June this year, the 610 Office and the neighborhood committee forcibly took a male practitioner to the brainwashing class and suspended him by ropes in a painful position for two days and nights. This practitioner could not bear this brutal torture. He broke his legs in an attempt to jump off the wall to flee from this den of evil. When he was sent to the hospital, the police notified his family and left quickly to avoid taking responsibility.

Officials from the district 610 Office and the brainwashing class publicly told family members of the detained practitioners whose lives were at risk: "We will let them go home when they are close to death. If you have money, you can spend it all to support your disabled relatives, if you don't have money, you can only wait for a dead person." For those practitioners who were returned to their families when they were near death and managed to recover some of their health, the brainwashing class would then find an excuse to take them back for further persecution. Thus, many practitioners dared not to return to their homes or their jobs. Consequently, many families were broken up.

The staff members of the brainwashing center were drawn from various police stations in the area and from other government agencies. They usually work at the brainwashing center for a three-month period. The authorities first brainwash new staff members and ask them to write a "resolution letter" stating their goal to commit evil deeds together. It is worth mentioning that some of the kinder and wiser staff members sought to avoid participating in the persecution after they discerned the true situation in the brainwashing class. Some of them sought opportunities to leave the brainwashing center early.

Here, we sternly warn the police who willingly serve as the henchmen of Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan: your actions are being recorded. Good and evil will eventually meet their due returns. Stop persecuting Falun Dafa, and leave some hope for your future.
