Ms. Zhang Cuihua, over forty years old, made a living by running a small business. Since July 20, 1999, she was detained many times for clarifying the truth of Dafa to various levels of government. In 2001, she was sentenced to one year in Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong County. When the labor camp sent her back home, her health condition was very bad. She died at the end of January 2003.

The 3^rd Detention Center, located at Shuangyangsheling in Changchun City, intensified the torture against Falun Gong practitioners who went on hunger strikes. The perpetrators cuffed these practitioners and put shackles on them. Moreover, they used needles to brutally stab the practitioners' fingers. The doctor who did the torture is Dr. Ren in the Health Section. She brazenly claimed that it was to treat those practitioners' ailments.

Since being arrested by police in February 2002, Ms. Li Dongqi has suffered from various tortures. Though she was just over twenty years old, her hair turned white from the torture she received while in police custody. Her weight dramatically dropped to only about 70 pounds. There are several other practitioners who were arrested with her at same time.

At 11 p.m. on May 2, 2003, Zhen Jun (head of Political Security of Yilan County Public Security Bureau), Liu Danyang (head of the criminal team), staff members from County Committee, County Political and Judiciary Committee, the "610 Office" and Public Security Bureau illegally searched several practitioners' homes. Female practitioner Du Jing was taken away and detained in the 2^nd Detention Center for more than one month. Later she was sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City. ["610 Office" is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.]

Practitioner Zhen Chen was detained in Yilan County Detention Center for more than two months and sentenced to two years of forced labor in Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City.

Guizhou City "610 Office" launched another round of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. In some areas the residency committee appointed people to stand in front of practitioners' homes in order to monitor the practitioners. Some factories forced their employees who are practitioners to write "Guarantee Letters" to give up Falun Gong. What's more, when some practitioners had just returned home from work, their employers called them to check on them.

Forty-two-year-old female practitioner Si Xiumei never received any education, but through her righteous belief in Dafa, she can read through the 300-page book, Zhuan Falun. She is a determined practitioner and always abides by the principle of Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truth-Compassion-Tolerance). She clearly and openly protested against the persecution of Falun Gong. On March 14, 2003, more than twenty police from the Public Security Bureau broke into her home using the excuse of searching for fireworks. The police kidnapped Si Xiumei and her husband, confiscated a printer, a CD burner, a VCD player, a paper cutting machine, 300 blank CDs and other materials.
