Ms. Wang Dongmei of Hengshui City Suffers Mental Collapse from Torture
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Dongmei, in her 30s, was a teacher in Wuyi County, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. In
2001 she was forcibly taken to a local brainwashing center, then transferred to the No.5 team of the
Shijiazhuang Forced-Labor Camp. During this period of time, she suffered all kinds of brutal
torture, both mental and physical, such as "Tying the ropes" [A cruel torture method in
which police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around her neck, and tie her
hands behind her back. Then the police use all the force they can muster to tighten the rope. The
rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more
difficult to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of her
bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.],
shocking with electric batons, sleep deprivation for many days and long-term isolation. The guards
used all kinds of methods, but they still could not achieve their goal of forcing Ms. Wang to turn
against her belief. Next, they sent her to a mental hospital where they used drugs to torture her. One afternoon, after her husband was able to bail her out on medical grounds (this was some time
ago), a practitioner saw her. At that time Wang wasn't fully conscious; her responses were very
slow, and she had lost quite a bit of her memory. When her fellow practitioners asked her how she
was sent to the mental hospital, she told them very slowly that she didn't know anything. When she
was asked why she was at the hospital, she very slowly said that she took medicine and had
injections. When she was asked whether she was forced to take medicine and injections, she said yes.
Her fellow practitioners saw that both of her arms had scars and dark purple lines from being tied
up with ropes. Originally posted on July 6, 2003
