Article 23 Has Led to More Hong Kong Residents Supporting Falun Gong (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Epoch Times Hong Kong reporter Li Siting reports: Jiang Zemin has brutally persecuted Falun Gong for four years, with the evidence piling up day after day. Falun Gong practitioners, however, have been only peacefully protesting the persecution. Some practitioners believe that Article 23 has alerted Hong Kong people that Jiang is persecuting his own people, and they have changed from being numb to the persecution of Falun Gong to being supportive of Falun Gong.

When asked why she was taking part in the activities on the fourth anniversary of "7.20", Ms. Guan said she came because she was a Falun Gong practitioner, and that she would tell the people what Jiang's regime has done to Falun Gong over the past four years, and she hopes people outside of China can help Falun Gong practitioners that are being persecuted in China.

As to what Hong Kong can do to help Falun Gong practitioners in China, Ms. Guan said, "The July 1^st parade had 500,000 people, a reflection of the people's will. They didn't take any rash actions, instead, they used their feet to tell the government: 'Hong Kong does not need Article 23.' Falun Gong practitioners have always been doing the same thing, starting from themselves, letting more and more people know the truth -- the truth that Jiang's regime is afraid of being exposed, so the torture and persecution against Falun Gong practitioners would slow more and more until one day it will come to a complete stop."

Will the practitioners' marches really help? Ms. Guan said, "Yes, certainly!" More and more people have changed from being neutral to or against Falun Gong to supporting Falun Gong. She cited her own family as an example. In the past they were strongly against her participating any Falun Gong activities, but today, when she told her family that she would take part in the activities, they were supportive.

Ms. Guan pointed out that Article 23 has woken up her family. If Article 23 didn't exist, they would have thought that Falun Gong being persecuted was something very distant and has nothing to do with them. But now, they have been personally affected, so they have become more understanding and supportive of Falun Gong. In the meantime, Ms. Guan holds that people's consciences have emerged and that's really why they started supporting Falun Gong.

Another practitioner Ms. Hu said, "It has been four years since Jiang started persecuting Falun Gong, and there are at least 756 confirmed death of torture, and countless Falun Gong practitioners being detained in forced labor camps, mental hospitals, and prisons. Through the peaceful march, we can raise the awareness of and bring attention to more Hong Kong people about this groundless and brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China, as well as the situations of Falun Gong practitioners being maltreated." Ms. Hu also stated that Falun Gong practitioners have always been peaceful in all of their activities.

Ms. Hu said that she was very happy about how nowadays more and more people have come to understand Falun Gong and have learned the truth of the persecution. She believes that Falun Gong practitioners will bring Jiang to justice very soon, because overseas Falun Gong practitioners are filing lawsuit against Jiang in the United States for crimes against humanity and genocide.
