Ireland: Falun Gong Practitioners, Human Rights Groups and Student Union Representatives Gather in Dublin to Expose Jiang's Four-Year Persecution against Falun Gong (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net July 26, 2003) On the afternoon of July 19, Irish Falun Gong practitioners, members of the Irish Branch of Amnesty International and representatives of Irish Student Unions gathered in the city of Dublin to expose Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin's brutal persecution of Falun Gong over the past four years.

All those photographed above made a speech: Gerald O' Connor, spokesman of the Falun Dafa Association, Mr. Jim Loughran, the spokesman of the Irish Branch of Amnesty International, Dr. Declan Lyons, a psychiatry professional, Patricia McKenna, MEP, Will Priestley, the chairman of the student unions for all Ireland, the vice-chairperson of the student unions in the top three largest universities in Dublin, and Zhao Ming, one of the plaintiffs in the genocide lawsuit filed against Jiang Zemin and one of Ireland's Falun Gong practitioner. Behind the speakers was a large banner reading, "Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin persecutes millions of Falun Gong practitioners, 770+ tortured to death, 1/4 state budget exhausted." There was a series of ten display boards held by five practitioners entitled "Jiang Zemin accused of ten crimes."

The two themes for the gathering were "The Global Trial against Jiang Zemin for Crimes of Genocide" and "Rescue the Irish Students Imprisoned in China." The spokesman of the Irish Falun Dafa Association introduced the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, and talked about practitioners' efforts to resist this persecution in a firm and peaceful way. He also listed examples of Jiang Zemin's 10 crimes.

Mrs. Patricia McKenna, MEP, said in her speech: "The most terrifying aspect of the persecution of Falun Gong is the Chinese governments' tricks in requesting each country to take precaution against Falun Gong. Here in this country, however, everyone knows very clearly that people have nothing to take precautions for against Falun Gong. Each word describing the first to the last crime listed on the board behind me is very important. What shocked me most is the financial investment made by the Chinese government to strike at Falun Gong. This is non-acceptable. It is not only a crime to suppress these people but also a persecution in which money collected from the same people was used to persecute those same people. We ought to bring up the human rights issue in China at every possible opportunity. We should not be afraid of doing so. We cannot allow ourselves to be bullied, humiliated, and blackmailed, because of international trade, economic problems or other issues, and remain silent."

A psychiatrist professional, Dr. Declan Lyon made a speech to expose the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Student Unions from Ireland and representatives from various student associations expressed their full support in rescuing Liu Feng and Yang Fang.

Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Ming, said in his statement: "Two years ago, when I was jailed in a Chinese labor camp, you were standing up and speaking out for my release. Now I am free and I'm standing up here together with you to campaign for other people's freedom. Isn't this encouraging? This shows that the righteous force for justice and human rights is expanding and the evil force of persecution has been suppressed.

"Now human rights lawyers from Switzerland, United States and other areas have started to form an alliance to sue the top officials of the Jiang regime in all countries where related international laws have been signed and ratified. I believe, as all these righteous actions keep expanding, there will definitely be one day that Jiang Zemin and other criminals are brought to justice!"

The speeches lasted an hour and then everyone met in the plaza to hold a parade and distribute flyers about the persecution of Falun Gong as they passed through the city. After the parade, practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises in front of the General Post Office, distributed flyers and sent forth righteous thoughts.

Three TV stations were present for this activity, in which interviews were conducted before the activity and there was a live broadcast. A follow-up report was also made.
