Falun Dafa Wins Award at Milwaukee South Shore Parade (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) July 12, 2003 Falun Gong practitioners of Wisconsin participated in the Milwaukee South Shore Frolic Parade and won the "Best Appearance" award.

Thousands of people watched the annual South Shore Frolic Parade along KK Street where over one hundred groups participated in the parade. The Falun Dafa group won the "Best Appearance" award for its rich Chinese culture.

The Falun Dafa float was decorated in purple with colorful lotus flowers. On the float, three Falun Gong practitioners in traditional Chinese costumes demonstrated the exercises peacefully accompanied by Falun Dafa music. Leading the procession was the "Flower Basket Dance" section. The female practitioners performed the dance elegantly. Immediately following was the "Fan Dance." A group of practitioners danced with pink fans and won warm applause from the audience. Among the procession, there were two banners reading, "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance."

Ms. Maureen Zebian, a high school teacher, said, "Though people in over 60 countries can freely practice Falun Gong, it has been persecuted in China over the past four years."

"To Jiang's regime, Falun Gong is too popular. Though many people improved their health after practicing Falun Gong, Jiang still felt it was a threat to his own power. From July 1999, Jiang's regime started a brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. We want to show the people the beauty of Falun Dafa and raise awareness of the human rights violations in China."
