Falun Dafa practitioner Zheng Dejun from Yichang City, Hubei Province suffered for three years in a forced labour camp. Zheng had been coerced to give up Falun Dafa. After his release however, he came to the realization that what he had done while under extreme threats by camp guards was not befitting a Dafa practitioner's standard; it wasn't right. He made the decision to cultivate in Falun Dafa again.

Recently, Xiba Police Substation conducted an illegal search of his house. When the police discovered truth clarification material, they arrested Zheng and sent him to the Yichang No. One Criminal Detention Centre. Zheng started a ten-day hunger strike to protest his arrest and detention. During this period he suffered severe torture at the hands of the labour camp guards. He was released to receive medical treatment, in critical condition. When his health improved a little bit the police abducted him from his work and took him to the Shayang Forced Labour Camp, where he was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labour.

In August 2002, Ms. Tan Jiazhen of Yichang City, Hubei Province was at home when personnel from the neighbourhood committee went to her home. She clarified the truth to them. However, when these individuals discovered materials that revealed the truth of the persecution in her home, they called the local police to arrest her. During her detention, the police illegally extended her detention four times because she would not renounce Falun Gong. Tan was sent to Qilihu Forced Labour Camp in Shayang and was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labour there.

In November 2002, Yichang practitioner Ms. Zhang Yonghong was kidnapped by policemen Xu Hong and Zhou Xiangdong. She had been reported to police by a so-called "reformed" person [former Falun Gong practitioner who has gone astray due to brainwashing and torture]. She was sent to the Yichang #1 Detention Centre. She is now illegally held within Division Seven of the Qilihu Forced Labour Camp, in Shayang, Hubei Province.

In November 2002, Yichang policemen illegally searched Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Huajun's house after a "reformed" person reported him to police. He was sent to the Yichang #1 Detention Centre and was illegally detained there for a short period of time. After he was released the Yiling Police arrested him again and sent him to the Wuhan psychological brainwashing centre.
