Hydroelectric Power Engineer in Pingjiang County, Hunan Province Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.Net)

Thirty-eight-year-old Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Foyou is an excellent hydroelectric power engineer in Pingjiang County, Hunan Province. He treats people kindly and sincerely, and works hard on every project that he is assigned. After cultivating Falun Dafa he has become an even better employee and has consequently received highly positive recommendations from his workplace and neighbors.

At the end of 1999, together with some other Dafa practitioners in the county, he went to appeal in Beijing. As soon as they stepped into the compound of the State Appeal Office, police arrested them. Later they were taken back by the "610 Office"* and Pingjiang police. They were illegally held in the county detention center for over a month. During their detention, police instigated criminal inmates to beat them, strip off their clothes and then pour one basin after another of cold water onto their bodies during the chill of winter. Moreover, for appealing, Li's salary was lowered by one grade.

Because he refused to give up his belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance," the "610 Office" and police arrested Li Foyou again in November 2001. After suffering tremendously during his detention, Li was sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp. He has been imprisoned in the No 1. Division of Yuelu Jail, Changsha City, Hunan Province since October 2002.

The other sentenced practitioners include 52-year-old Mr. Wang Wuhui, a retired worker of the Pingjiang Agriculture& Machine Company, and a couple Ms. Liu Bihua (36 years old) and Mr. Chen Shengping (worker of the County's livestock bureau, sentenced for 1.5 years). Ms. Liu needs to take care of 2 kids, who are 7 and 9 years old respectively. She makes a hard living by doing some small business. However, the "610 Office" and police didn't let her off. No sooner was her husband released in 2002 than she was kidnapped to the Changsha Women's Prison. She was sentenced to 3 years in a forced labor camp together with Wang Wuhui. Presently she suffers from being cruelly persecuted in jail. Chen Shengping was expelled from his workplace and now makes a living delivering milk. It is very hard for him to support a family of four, including his elderly mother.
