Retired Professor and Others Suffer Brutal Forced Feeding in Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center, Changchun City, Jilin Province

Ms. Zhu Xiukui, 62 years old, is a retired professor in the Bureau of Medicine Control in Jilin Province. She started a hunger strike the moment she was taken to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center by her work unit. The prison doctor Liang Qi and around a dozen other policemen inserted a tube into her stomach to administer force-feeding. She pulled it out. The police then tied her hands and feet to the bed and inserted a tube through her nose. When that also failed, they chose to use intra-venous drips on her. By this time she was as thin as a stick, and the police started to worry about causing her death, so they sent her to a hospital for a medical check up. The result showed symptoms of serious illness and as a result she was released. Thus she nobly broke free from the brainwashing center.

Mr. Gao Jidong, 36 years old, staff member in the Changchun Branch of the Bureau of Taxation in Jilin Province, was among the first group of practitioners taken to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center. He had already started a hunger strike to protest the persecution several days before being brought to the center. The hunger strike continued for 5-6 days in the center. Then the police force-fed him. We could hear his yelling in pain and his vomiting, amidst the yells of the police. He was force-fed 1-2 times each day, which continued for about 4-5 days. Then he started to vomit blood. The police suspected that his stomach was injured and were afraid so they stopped the procedure. Mr Gao was as thin as bones wrapped in skin. In order to avoid taking responsibility, the brainwashing center called Mr Gao's father and lured him with all kinds of excuses to sign a piece of paper allowing them to "continue with forced feeding or intravenous injections of glucose and salt." The old man was heartbroken to see his son suffering from the torture. Unwillingly he signed his name "agreeing to intravenous drips." Later on Mr Gao's health condition worsened and was diagnosed by the hospital as having a stomach ulcer with a recommendation of hospitalization. This way, Mr Gao nobly broke out of the den with his iron strong will.
