Solemn Statements Should Not Be Regarded as Some Kind of "Backup" By Cheng Ming
(Clearwisdom.net) Now is a great opportunity for practitioners who have followed an
unrighteous path to publish Solemn Declarations on Clearwisdom. These declarations expose the evil
and allow practitioners to break through the brutal brainwashing. Those of us who have followed a
wrong path in our cultivation as Fa-rectification Dafa disciples should live up to our
responsibilities and take the opportunity to make Solemn Statements, for our own sakes as well as
those of others. There are also practitioners who again did something against their own consciences after
publishing Solemn Statements. Some even treat Solemn Statements as "backup." When they
suffered persecution like brainwashing, they felt that they could publish a Solemn Statement after
they got out, so they slandered Dafa and Teacher, knowing that it was wrong. This is an impure human
mentality. It is also a profanity in light of Teacher's mercy and tolerance. It is an insult to Dafa
and being irresponsible to oneself. Moreover, it could be used by Jiang's regime to deceive and
poison the people of the world, and could be taken advantage of by the old forces, giving them what
they believe to be justification to persecute us even more violently. Some people in religions repeat their mistakes after confession, and feel at ease and justified
when confessing to the same mistakes again and again. It's even worse to write the so-called
"pledge" in China, because it is done under coercion, and makes completely insincere
statements that are used for propaganda purposes to deceive others. The Solemn Declarations on
Clearwisdom are not the same as confessions in religion, nor is it the self-criticism of ordinary
people. We should never treat Solemn Declarations as simply gestures to give others the impression
we are doing something. A practitioner made the choice to give up cultivation and slander Dafa, and
the old forces regard this as choosing extermination. Even non-practitioners might regard this
conduct as undignified. We have the opportunity to publish Solemn Statements in such cases to give
us the opportunity to continue our cultivation in Dafa, thanks to Teacher's grand mercy. How much
compassion and tolerance Teacher has shown! How could we treat it with a human mentality? Writing a Solemn Statement is the beginning of the road back to the current of Fa-rectification
cultivation. By redoubling their efforts, those who have gone astray can return and make up for the
