(Clearwisdom.net) On July 11, 2003, Mayor Richard Muti of Borough of Ramsey, New Jersey, wrote to US Senators Frank Lautenberg and John Corzine expressing his full support of Falun Gong Practitioners and urging the State of New Jersey to support this peaceful group of people seeking only the freedom to pursue their spiritual goals.

Mayor Muti said, "Practitioners of Falun Gong have charged former Chinese Communist leader Jiang Zemin with torture, genocide, and crimes against humanity, as well as conspiracy to violate civil rights of Falun Gong practitioners within the jurisdiction of the United States. Falun Gong is a teaching and practice of mind and body improvement that has attracted over 100 million people in over 60 countries. We have a number of such practitioners here in our community and fully support their cause."

He said in his letter, "On July 9, 2003, the Ramsey governing body adopted a resolution in support of Falun Gong. I attached a copy of that resolution and urge the State of New Jersey to support this peaceful group of people seeking only the freedom to pursue their spiritual goals."
