To all Judges in Huanggang City, Hebei Province:

On August 1, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Qingmin was illegally arraigned for the second time at the People's Intermediate-Level Court in Huanggang City. Although the form of this hearing was different from the prior trial, in spirit it remained the same. It once again showed the Jiang regime's disregard for the law. Zhang's first trial was held illegally in secret, and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Although the second trial was open to the public, Zhang was not given the opportunity to defend himself. He was forbidden to speak, and denied his basic right of defense. In addition, both the judge and Zhang's court-appointed lawyer only spoke in conformance with government policy concerning Falun Dafa practitioners. Questions raised in court had no bearing on this case.

As is widely known, the persecution of Falun Dafa and its practitioners is the result of Jiang Zemin prevailing over government pronouncements and asserting his personal agenda. The purported law he uses in the persecution of Falun Gong is not legitimate for the following reasons: 1) it is in violation of the Chinese constitution's freedom of belief and freedom of speech; 2) the person in power is placing his power above the law; 3) the persecution preceded the legislation; 4) there is no legal definition of an "evil cult;" therefore there is no legal precedence for labeling Falun Gong an "evil cult."

On the other hand, the worldwide voice of justice supports the public court case against Jiang. Presently, a number of court actions against Jiang and his co-conspirators have been filed in seven countries. It is important to note that Falun Dafa has spread to over 60 countries and has received thousands of proclamations and statements of support from many governments and organizations. People from many countries are benefiting from cultivating "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance."

In summary, the persecution of Falun Gong is a politically motivated persecution, instigated by Jiang. The purported laws that are currently used to sentence Falun Gong practitioners lack jurisprudence. In fact, there is nothing wrong with Falun Gong. The persecution of Falun Gong is solely based on lies. The lies have deceived countless Chinese people. Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Qingmin's second trial is nothing other than the upholding of unjust laws.

Honorable judges, we sincerely hope that you clearly understand the Falun Gong issue and are not deceived by politically motivated lies. Please be a pillar in protecting human virtue and morality. Resist the persecution, and unconditionally release Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Qingmin. This is the most honorable means to protect yourselves. Please reflect on this conscientiously.
