Australian Member of Parliament David Barr Writes to Foreign Minister Regarding the Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in China

Dear Minister

I am writing to draw your attention to the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China. I am regularly updated on the situation by local practitioners who are also concerned about the effect of this persecution on Australia.

The upcoming Human Rights Dialogue presents a good opportunity for Australian officials to discuss this issue with the Chinese. The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong have found that one quarter of China's financial resources are used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. As China is one of our largest trading partners this figure is cause for serious concern here in Australia.

I urge you to increase the pressure on the Chinese government to put an end to this persecution.
