(Clearwisdom.net, August 9) Dafa practitioner Lan Qizhi was first held in the Zhengding Detention Center for one year and eight months, and then sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment for practicing Falun Gong. On July 3, 2003 she was transferred to the Taihang Prison in Hebei Province and forced to perform manual labor for long hours on a daily basis.

Toward the end of September of 2001, police seriously damaged a Dafa materials production site in Shijiazhuang City. Eight Dafa practitioners were abducted one by one: Zhang Lingjiang, Shi Yan, Liu Runling, Lan Qizhi, Yang Xiaojie, Zhang Shijun, Zhao Lishan, and Niu Mingang. Wang Yunman is another Dafa practitioner who was abducted in August 2001. The Ministry of Public Security listed these nine people as "key personnel" for persecution. In the middle of October 2001, Lan Qizhi was secretly transferred to the Zhengding Detention Center of Shijiazhuang City. This practitioner was then detained there for as long as one year and eight months.

On May 19, 2003, Lan Qizhi was transferred from the Zhengding Detention Center to Hebei Province's Shijiazhuang Prison. On May 21, when her family went to visit her, the guard at the gate told them, "You cannot see her because of the SARS problem." Later in June her family called the officials in the prison's female division and inquired when they could visit her. They got the response, "We haven't discussed this issue yet." Her family then inquired if the female division could check with Hebei Provincial Prison Administration Department. The response was, "Call them yourself." While Lan Qizhi was detained in Shijiazhuang Prison, she was forced to do manual labor until midnight every day.

Her family found out later that Lan Qizhi was going to be transferred to Hebei Province's Taihang Prison. Her family then called the head of the Hebei Province Prison Administration Department for more information and was told, "We have received instructions from our superiors that she is to be detained in a prison in another city." When her family mentioned that this would make it more difficult for them to visit, they were told, "That does not concern us." On July 3rd, Lan Qizhi was sent to the Taihang Prison. At the same time three other Dafa practitioners whose names are unknown were also sent there. The day they arrived at the Taihang Prison, the police isolated these four Dafa practitioners from each another. They were scheduled to undergo brainwashing sessions.
