At 5 a.m. on August 12, 2003, the police in Nuanchitang Town, Nanpiao District went to Anchangxian Village to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. Climbing over the wall around the yard, the police broke into Ms. Yang Hongxia's house and arrested her and her ten-year-old daughter while they were asleep. Only four hours later, the police transferred Ms. Yang to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp since they feared she would go on a hunger strike to protest, while Yang's daughter was forced to go to her grandmother's home.

Ms. Yang Hongxia is thirty-three years old. After July 20, 1999, the local police unlawfully arrested and brainwashed her on a number of occasions and extorted several thousand Yuan from her. During the last four years, she was harassed, put under close monitoring, and her house was searched many times. On April 23, 2003, the local police station arrested her husband, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner. Because he escaped, the police went back to their house and confiscated their Falun Gong books and tapes, and later unlawfully arrested Ms. Yang. In the city detention center, she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. On the eighth day, the police sent her to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp when she was near death, but the camp refused to take her because of her dire health condition. Finally, the police reluctantly released her the next day.

With her husband missing and having lost the family savings, Ms. Yang and her child had a hard life, but the police still didn't leave her alone. On August 12, the authorities abducted her and brought her to the second female station of the Masanjia Female Forced Labor Camp.

The police in Nuanchitang Town have arrested at least seven Falun Gong practitioners within the last month. These practitioners are being abused in a detention center or a forced labor camp.
