[Masanjia, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Cui Yaning Tortured in
the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
During July 2002, Falun Dafa practitioners Li Dongqing (female), Song Caihong
(female) and Cui Yaning were illegally sentenced to the Masanjia Forced Labor
Camp. During the trial Cui Yaning shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is
good!" and as a consequence her sentence was arbitrarily extended by three
months. In December 2002, a female police officer from Team Two of the Female
Camp No.2 threw practitioner Cui Yaning into a small cell with former
practitioners (who had been persecuted to the point that they disavowed their
faith in Falun Dafa). Windows were kept open, exposing Cui Yaning to the cold
for nine days and nights. Her feet froze to the point of cracking and bleeding,
but she did not yield to the torture. Later on, she could not walk due to
frostbite on her feet. She was sent to the hospital for medical treatment. She
wrote a letter to the director of the forced labor camp, describing all the
forms of torture that Dafa practitioners were subject to at the camp. She has
remained steadfast, and is currently being detained at Group Two of Team Two in
Female Camp No.2. Previously she had been detained in Team One.

[Zanhuang County, Hebei Province] A New Round of Persecution of Falun Dafa
Practitioners
Prior to July 20, Gu Yuping, Assistant Party Secretary of Zanhuang County
chaired a meeting regarding the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, which
all county level officers attended. Afterwards, some officers told
practitioners, "The senior officials have a saying: 'As long as Falun Gong
practitioners from a given area go to Beijing, officers from that area will be
dismissed from their posts.' You've got to write a 'guarantee statement'.
Otherwise, you go by yourself to the Shishi Brainwashing Class with 3000
Yuan." Before that, members of the "610 Office" and Nu Guiping, a
female Director of the Politics & Security Section of the Zanhuang Public
Security Bureau, had frequently ransacked and looted practitioners' homes. They
arrested practitioners and extorted fines from 1000 to 5000 Yuan from each
person.

[Luquan City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Guo Lanju Illegally Detained
Recently about eight policemen from the Tongye Police Station illegally
arrested Guo Lanju, a practitioner in her forties. Around 10:00 pm on the same
day she was transferred to the Luquan Detention Center.

[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Illegally Arrested
Ms. Qiu, a practitioner in her 50's, was illegally arrested on August 15.
Several policemen from the Dongzikou Police Station broke into and looted her
home. They took her CD-burner, a Lianxiang multipurpose printer, a Canon
photocopier, over 3000 Yuan in cash, and her grandson's computer. Her
whereabouts are unknown. Qiu's husband, also a practitioner, was forced to leave
his home in order to avoid illegal detention. Their young grandson is left at
home alone.

[Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Persecuted
at a Brainwashing Class in Baiyun District
The so-called "Law School" in Baiyun District is actually a
brainwashing class established to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. In the
beginning, they did not dare to torture practitioners physically. They mainly
deprived practitioners of their personal freedom and extorted huge sums of money
from their employers. Practitioners' family members and employers suffered both
emotionally and monetarily. They did this in an attempt to make practitioners
feel guilty and confuse those practitioners who had not studied the Fa well and
had not let go of their attachments. Currently, under orders from the "610
Office" in Guangzhou City, the brainwashing class is employing the
following means to persecute steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners: depriving
practitioners of sleep, forcing them to watch videos defaming Dafa, and coercing
them to write so-called "guarantee statements." Shen Wen, Yang Yang,
and others were subject to these forms of persecution.

[Hengyang City, Hunan Province] The "610 Office" Persecutes and
Extorts Money from Practitioner Zhou Baoguo
The "610 Office" in Hengyang City conspired to illegally send Zhou
Baoguo to prison. At the same time, they ordered a police officer to extort
money from Zhou Baoguo's wife, telling her they would release Zhou if she gave
them 20,000 Yuan.
Xie Zhengguo, Director of the "610 Office" and Assistant Party
Secretary of Hengyang Politics & Law Committee is the main person
responsible for these deeds.
[Xingning City, Guangdong Province] Two Practitioners Detained at the Sanshui
Forced Labor Camp
Yuan Yumei is a 37-year old woman and Yuan Lixiang is a 54-year old woman.
They were illegally arrested while posting truth-clarifying materials at the
Heshui Police Station and Public Security Mansion at Longtian Town of Xingning
City. They were illegally sentenced to three years and two years of forced labor
respectively. Currently they are being detained at the Sanshui Forced Labor
Camp.
Li Zhuozhong is 40-year old senior teacher in Xingning City. His wife, Liao
Yanqun, is a kindergarten teacher. Both of them are college graduates. They were
illegally arrested for possession of materials that clarified the truth about
Falun Gong and sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp.
[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Brainwashing Class to be Held
According to news from the "610 Office" in Chengdu City, a
brainwashing class, which did not get held in June, will be held on September 1.
[Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Hu Shumei Illegally Detained at
the Yaojia Detention Center
On July 17 and 18, several Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials sites in
Dalian area were illegally broken into. Practitioners from Malanzi district
including Ren Yazhi (female), Sun Lixian (male), Gong Jianming (male), Hu Shumei
(female), Yu Xinhua (female) and Dong Meiyan (female) were arrested. On the way
to the detention center Hu Shumei shouted loudly "Falun Dafa is good!"
Her righteous voice shocked the whole detention center. Police were frustrated
and anxious.
A team from Zhongshan Public Security Branch in Dalian City is handling the
formalities of the illegal arrest of the above-mentioned practitioners. They
will be preparing all the falsified documents that will be given to the
Inspection Institute and Court in order to conduct an illegal lawsuit and
sentence.

[Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Jiang Flees to the Huangjinshan Navy Hotel
at Lushun
According to reliable sources, Jiang will stay at the Huangjinshan Navy Hotel
at Lushun from August 20 to mid-September. We hope that all Dalian practitioners
will send forth righteous thoughts sharply on the hour upon hearing this news.
Because of Jiang's arrival the "610 Office" and the Public Security
Bureau have been making a large-scale effort to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners.
Two female practitioners, Li Jingyi and Li Jing'e, have been transferred to the
Yaojia Detention Center. Many Falun Dafa practitioners are being detained in the
Yaojia Detention Center.
[Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Wang Shuqin Illegally
Arrested Again
On August 16, 2003, Wang Shuqin was illegally arrested while distributing
truth-clarifying materials in Beidaihe. Her whereabouts are unknown. On August
17, her home was ransacked. During the past four years, she has been illegally
detained many times both in detention centers and in brainwashing classes. Each
time, she was only released when she was on the verge of death. Another
practitioner, Li Xiangchun, is being detained in Nanjing Prison.

[Beijing] Practitioner Liu Chunshu is Missing
On August 4 practitioner Liu Chunshu from Qianjiadian of Yanqing County,
Beijing, was illegally arrested while explaining the truth about Falun Dafa. She
suffered serious wounds from the beatings at the hands of police. Reports say
that she was treated for the wounds in a hospital. Her current whereabouts are
unknown.
[Handan City, Hebei Province] The "610 Office" Launches a New Round
of Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners
Recently, the "610 Office" in Handan City issued an order to each
police station across the city, requiring police officers to obtain "four
statements" [refers to various written statements that practitioners are
forced to sign disavowing their practice of Falun Dafa and giving up their right
to appeal, etc.] from every Falun Dafa practitioner. If the practitioners do
not comply they will be forcibly sent to a brainwashing center. Practitioners
will also be forced to pay all expenses related to their persecution.
