548 Banners Flying Outside a Brainwashing Class

On September 26 and 27, 2002, before the 16^th Party Congress, Dafa disciples of Kaifeng, Henan Province were forced into brainwashing classes or sent to detention centers. One and a half months later, on November 15, the "610 Office"* in Kaifeng took over all of the district's brainwashing classes. They held the fourth Kaifeng Brainwashing Class and continued to persecute Dafa disciples. On December 8, the class was secretly moved to a health building in the Northern District. They planned to detain twenty-two practitioners for unlimited terms. They didn't allow practitioners to leave the building. People who monitored them had to fetch food for them. Practitioners' family members were not allowed to visit them without written permission. They also ravenously searched for Master Li's books and articles. Practitioners who were found to have either were put into small cells, brutally beaten, and were not allowed to eat or sleep. They were also tortured by being made to stand for a long time.

Because of the practitioners' righteous thoughts and actions, they won over the hearts of those who monitored them. In the end, they passed on all the news from the outside to the practitioners.

On the morning of December 23, 2003, the police found a four-meter long banner hanging on a tree nearby the health building. The banner had red letters and a white background, and was very striking. It read, "Falun Dafa Is Great" and other such phrases. The last phrase was "Dafa Disciples Are Detained Here." The "610 Office" and the Legal Committee members panicked and added more police on patrol during the night. The outside disciples' righteous thoughts and actions greatly shook the evil people in the class, and at the same time, greatly encouraged the Dafa disciples detained there.

On the evening of January 21, 2003, one monitor said, "It's truly a miracle. I didn't see anything at noon after lunch. Later, I went out to buy something and returned before one o' clock. Then I found that along a one-li^** stretch of road in front of the building, red banners were hanging on all the trees. Red was everywhere. The banners were floating and dying the sky red. It looked so grand. The police officers were in a frenzy. They took down the banners one by one, a total of 548 were piled up on the car. They can't understand how someone could have slipped by them and put up so many banners; how could they be so fast?"
