Falun Dafa practitioner Dr. Chen Lihua is employed at the Shiyan City Women's and Children's
Hospital. She was abducted from her home and sent to the No. 1 Detention Center in Shiyan City,
Hubei Province.
In April, 2001, while detained, Chen Lihua went on hunger strike to protest the ill treatment,
and was force-fed many times with a food mixture containing a highly concentrated salt solution.
This endangered her life and caused her to be admitted to the City Hospital for medical treatment.
Although she was strictly guarded, she escaped from the hospital, and accepted homelessness and
destitution in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home.
In the middle of May 2003, she was arrested again after using a public phone (all of which are
tapped in Shiyan City). Police and collaborators* mentally tortured her for nearly 10 days, and
subjected her to forced brainwashing. She protested by holding a hunger strike. Later she was
detained in the Shiyan City No. 1 Detention Center, room 44.
Her life is in danger due to the repeated force feedings she was forced to endure during her
hunger strikes. She remains illegally detained to this day, and she is suffering from a chronically
high fever.
* Collaborators are former Falun Gong
practitioners who have turned against Dafa due to brainwashing and torture.
