Australia: Practitioner's Art Exhibit in Historic Town (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) On August 22-24, 2003, Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang
Cuiying held an exhibit in an art gallery in the historic town of Windsor,
Australia to introduce Falun Dafa and
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." A dozen local government
officials including the mayor, city councilors and federal MPs attended the
opening ceremony and cut the ribbon for the exhibit. Several officials gave
speeches and expressed their appreciation of
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance".
City Councilor Mr. Barry Calvert said in his speech, "These paintings
convey a message: it is 'Compassion.' Ms. Zhang Cuiying has taken this message
to more than 40 countries and 100 cities through her artworks. Today, she brings
the word 'compassion' to this historic town. In today's world, people often try
to force solutions to solve social problems, and 'compassion' becomes weaker and
weaker or disappears. If someone can help people to reestablish the principle of
compassion, we warmly welcome it." He continued, "Ms. Zhang Cuiying
shows us that she could still treat everything with compassion when she was
suffering brutal torture and abuse. If she could do so because she practiced
Falun Gong, we should study Falun Gong. I think it will be of great help for us
to solve many social problems."
City Councilor Ms. Lorna Allan broke her leg two weeks ago, but she still
came to attend the opening ceremony with a crutch. She said in her speech,
"From these paintings, I can see how peaceful it is in the depth of the
artist. We should study her spirit of tolerance."
City Councilor Ms. Dianne Finch said in her speech, "We are living in a
society full of troubles. I'm very glad to see such a peaceful art exhibit. I
hope to see more people bring goodness to our community in such a way. I
appreciate the 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' that Falun Dafa brings to
our community."
City Councilor Mr. Les Sheather said, "I think 'Compassion' is not an
independent concept, 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' is to be considerate
of others, and to be tolerant. This is one part in our life. As government
officials, we should set a good example and treat others according to the
principle of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.'"
City Councilor Mr. Leigh Williams, who attended the ceremony in spite of an
illness, said in his speech, " 'Compassion' is the foundation of human
civilization. Today's society is more and more degenerate, and people use less
and less compassion to treat each other. We hope that more and more
demonstrations of compassion can elevate people's minds and social
morality."
Community Service Department Manager Mr. Joseph Litwin expressed,
"'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' is a principle. The city government
should use it as a standard when making a policy and truly bring well-being to
the community."
Art Association president Ms. Judy Joyce gave a speech to express her good
wishes to the exhibit.
Representative of MP Mr. Steven Pringle said in his speech, "The seeds
of 'Compassion' grow in the tree of 'Compassion.' Like a mother, she can give
you shelter, keeping you from wind and rain. I hope that everyone who has seen
the exhibit will think it over and practice
'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' in our daily lives."
The principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" has
gradually touched people's hearts, and the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun
Dafa will definitely end in failure.
