"Cross-Country Van Trip to Rescue Charles Li" Goes Through Kansas (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net, August 31, 2003) On the morning of August 26, 2003, the
South and West lines of the "Cross-Country Van Trip to Rescue Charles
Li" met at Topeka, the capital of Kansas. They held a press conference with
local Falun Gong practitioners in front of the state Capitol. Practitioners also
demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. Channel WIBW13 came to
interview the practitioners and reported in the evening about how Charles Li has
been mistreated, as well as the persecution of Falun Gong in China. The
practitioners also explained the facts and distributed flyers to passersby. In the afternoon, the van trip arrived at Kansas City, where practitioners
conducted another news conference at the municipal public library. During the
conference, practitioners talked about the rescue drive. A practitioner also
related how his mother was locked into a psychiatric hospital and tortured
because she practices Falun Gong. An American practitioner talked about his
experience of how he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong two years ago, and
how he was arrested and then repatriated to the U.S. After the conference,
practitioners accepted interviews from a local newspaper and NBC TV station.
They answered questions regarding the reason why Charles Li went to China and
his current situation of being mistreated. During the process of setting up these two press conferences, some
practitioners actively took part in the preparation. Their hard work ensured the
success of the conferences. In the evening, practitioners from Kansas City and
practitioners of the van trip shared their experiences. They talked about their
understandings and experiences in the process of Fa-rectification cultivation,
as well as ways to clarify the facts to the precious Chinese people. A fellow
practitioner who had been persecuted in China narrated what she saw and heard
when she was imprisoned in Beijing Miyun Detention Center. She talked about how
the detained fellow practitioners were tortured by means of electric needles and
physical punishment. She talked about the persecuted practitioners' righteous
thoughts and righteous faith in Teacher and Dafa when they were tortured.
Through sharing, practitioners helped each other and inspired each other. After the experience sharing, we watched practitioners of the rescue trip set
out and hoped that they would spread the truth of Dafa to more people. |
