In September 2002, police from Liuji Township arrested Dafa practitioner Wang Xiuming without due cause and detained her at the township government compound. Later on, they transferred her to Hengshui City Brainwashing Center for persecution. One month later, Zhang Baoshun, head of Liuji Township (home phone: 86-318-4222721), together with Wang Chengyu, head of the Political and Judiciary Committee, sent her to the No.5 Division in the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp and sentenced her to two years of forced labor. Due to inhumane physical and mental torture, Wang Xiuming is unable to take care of herself and was diagnosed with a serious illness. He has now been bailed out for hospitalization for three months and sent home.

In March 2003, personnel from Shijiazhuang City's "610 Office" arrested Mr. Wang Fengcun at another practitioner's home. They held him for over three months at Shijiazhuang City's No.1 Detention Center. Mr. Wang's wife, also a Dafa practitioner, was forced to leave home to avoid persecution. In order to arrest his wife, the persecutors played a trick by releasing him in July. During this period, personnel from the city's "610 Office,"* the local police station and street administrative committee harassed him numerous times at home and forced him to write a so-called "Guarantee Statement."** They even attempted to use him as bait to arrest other Dafa practitioners. Wang Fengcun saw through their tricks and firmly refused. On August 5th he was once again arrested. More detailed information is under investigation.

1. Ms. Lin Lingling is 43 years old. In April 2000 she was illegally sentenced to forced labor and fined 10,000 Yuan*** because she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. In November 2002, the authorities returned 7,000 Yuan to her under her and her family's strong request. In June of 2003, to retaliate against her, with an excuse of "keeping Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials," the local "610 Office" officials arrested and detained her and extorted money from her again. How much money they extorted is unknown at this time.

2. Ms. Huang Qunfang is 48 years old. She was recognized as one of the city's model teachers. Because she kept truth-clarifying materials, she was illegally arrested and sentenced to one year of forced labor.

3. Ms. Liao Xiaoyun, 43 years old, is another model teacher for the city. When she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong on a bus, she was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labor.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Xu Shuyue is a deputy administrator for the Shahe City Bank in Hebei Province. On August 4, 2002, some officials entrapped him to the city committee's yard. Later, personnel from the city's "610 Office," took him to the Xingtai City Brainwashing Center, now officially called the "Legal System Education Center" for persecution. At the same time, the Shahe City Bank used public money to pay 2,000 Yuan for his brainwashing fee. This event was plotted and arranged by Bank Director Zhao Zengkui on August 1st. He also threatened involved persons to keep it a secret; otherwise, they would be fired.

At the end of July and the beginning of August, banners reading "Falun Dafa is Good" and others appeared over a large area at many places in a Beijing suburb.

* "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

** A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.

*** Yuan is the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan.
