[Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioner Mr. Kang Xiaosheng Stages
Hunger Strike at Fushun City's No.1 Detention Center
On May 29, 2003, a Dafa materials production site in Xintun District, Fushun
City was destroyed. Mr. Kang Xiaosheng managed to escape after being arrested.
On August 21, 2003, Kang Xiaosheng was again arrested and has been held until
now. At present, Kang Xiaosheng is detained at Fushun City's No.1 Detention
Center. He is staging a hunger strike to protest the illegal arrest.
[China] People Like the Truth-Clarifying Phone Calls
Recently whenever an important persecution case happens in a city, overseas
Dafa practitioners have been calling China very timely to expose the
persecution. This greatly shocked the evil and encouraged fellow practitioners.
A lot of people were amazed. When one person receives a call from Falun Gong, he
would press down the "speaker" button to let other people hear the
truth of Dafa as well. People present all applauded, "Falun Gong is
amazing."
[Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Personnel from the Shenyang Prison Attempt
to Cover up Persecution Facts and Forbid Practitioner to Write Letter
A Dafa practitioner detained at the Shenyang Prison refused to give up
his/her belief in Falun Dafa. He was thus deprived of the right of writing to
his family. When his family members visited him, he couldn't tell them the
tortures he suffered. His family members can only see his body is covered with
scabies. The practitioner's spouse also insisted on cultivating Dafa, and was
forced to leave home to work in another city. Grandparents take care of their
child who is under two years of age.
[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Arrest of Dafa Practitioner Ms. Wang
Yurong
1. On August 8, the officials from Harbin City "610 Office"*
arrested Ms. Wang Yurong at work at Harbin City's Bearing Company. The "610
Office" officials did not notify Wang's family member and had not gone
through any legal procedure before they sent Wang to the brainwashing center at
Shuangcheng City's Party School. Wang's work unit paid 4,500 Yuan** for the
"tuition." The brainwashing session started on August 15 and will end
on September 25.
2. Since the beginning of August, "610 Office" officials in Harbin
City started to arrest practitioners from Harbin City and peripheral areas. Now
15 practitioners are detained at the brainwashing center.

[Wendeng City, Shandong Province] Arrest of Dafa Practitioner Ms. Zhang
Jiehua
On April 9, 2003, Ms. Zhang Jiehua went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun
Gong. She was arrested and brought back to her local area and detained at the
Wendeng Detention Center. She was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. In
the beginning of June she was sent to the Wang Village Labor Camp but was
rejected because of her poor health. Zhang Jiehua was sent back to the Wendeng
Detention Center and went on a hunger strike again. The center officials were
afraid to take the responsibility for her life so they released her. On July 23,
police arrested her again at the city's detention center and sent her to the
Wang Village Labor Camp once more for torture.

[Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Persecution of Dafa Practitioner Mr. Bai
Xuchang
On May 7, practitioner Mr. Bai Xuchang was arrested with Mr. Zuo Guoqing and
is currently detained at Daqing City Labor Camp. At his first check-up in the
camp, his heartbeat was irregular and his body was covered with scabies.
[Fushun City, Liaoning Province] In Order to Force Dafa Practitioners to Give
Up Falun Gong Practice, Lawless Officials from the Political and Judicial
Committee Threaten to Fire Their Family Members from Their Jobs
Recently, in order to force Dafa practitioners to give up the practice of
Falun Gong, some lawless officials from Fushun City's Political and Judicial
Committee threatened practitioners to dismiss their family members from their
jobs. A mother went to the committee for the sake of her daughter's work, but
this resulted in being sent to a brainwashing class for one month. Another
practitioner kept a clear mind at all times and firmly refused to cooperate with
those vicious officials. His/her situation finally got better.
[Baoding City, Hebei Province] Lawless Policemen from the Baoding City Forced
Labor Camp Persecute Dafa Practitioners
The environment for Dafa practitioners who are illegally detained at Baoding
City's Forced Labor Camp is getting worse. Because the government did not longer
appropriate funds to the forced labor camp, policemen didn't get a bonus for a
long time. They then vented their anger on all Falun Gong practitioners. They
brutally beat practitioners at will and confiscated practitioners' property that
practitioners' families had sent. Many Dafa practitioners didn't tell their
family the truth of the persecution they suffered, because they didn't want
their families to worry about them.
[Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] The Authorities Prepare to Build a
Brainwashing Center in the Xidayingzi Forced Labor Camp
It was newly reported that Chaoyang City authorities prepared to build a
brainwashing center in the Xidayingzi Forced Labor Camp, which is the similar to
the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp's "Mental Education School." By
exerting pressure from higher levels to lower levels, the authorities intend to
launch a new, large-scale round of persecution against Dafa practitioners in
Chaoyang City.
* 610 Office: an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with
absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other
political and judiciary systems
** Yuan: 500 Yuan is the average monthly income in urban areas of China.
