Dear (name omitted):
Thank you for contacting me regarding the persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners. I appreciate your thoughts and share your concerns on this issue.
As you know, House Concurrent Resolution (H. Con. Res.) 188 was introduced July
18, 2001, and adopted by the House of Representatives by unanimous consent on August 1, 2001. This
legislation calls on the People's Republic of China to cease its persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners in China. H. Con Res. 188 was referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations
where no further action was taken in the 107th Congress. Please know that I will keep
your thoughts in mind if H. Con. Res. 188 or similar legislation comes before the Senate for
consideration in the 108th Congress.
Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope that the information I have provided
is helpful. My website, http://bayh.senate.gov, can provide
additional details about legislation and state projects, and you can also sign up to receive my
monthly e-newsletter, The Bayh Bulletin, by clicking on the link at the top of my homepage. I value
your input and hope you will continue to keep me informed of the issues important to you.
Best wishes,
Evan Bayh
