Thank you for contacting me regarding Dr. Charles Li, an American citizen and Falun Gong member, who is currently held in a prison in China. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue and I regret the delay in responding.

News of Dr. Li's arrest only adds to a long list of individuals, who have been locked away by an oppressive government for the purpose of intimidating the general population and silencing critics. While the ability of the United States to influence the government of China regarding cases like Dr. Li's is somewhat limited, you can count on me to support efforts in the U.S. Congress that seek to highlight the plight of and express American support for all the innocent who have been imprisoned unfairly.
