Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Lin Hongfei, Mr. Zhang Wenfeng, Mr. Sun Qian, Ms. Liu Dianling, and Ms. Jiang Shuxian, all detained in the Dehui Detention Center, are on a hunger strike to protest their illegal detention and request an unconditional release. It has been learned that the Dehui government recently held a special meeting to file a lawsuit in an attempt to secretly try these practitioners.

Mr. Zhang Shuying, a female practitioner from Dajiagou Township in Dehui City, has been illegally detained in the Dehui Detention Center for four months. During her detention, the Dehui Public Security Bureau twice tried to send her to forced labor camps. The forced labor camps refused to accept her because of her poor medical examination results. Currently she is being illegally detained.

On August 8, the Fengtai District Court in Beijing City cited "distributing truth-clarifying flyers" and "preparing to tap into satellite programs" to illegally sentence Shijingshan Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Huang Jiang to twelve years in jail; Mr. Sun Jingping to seven years; Mr. Wei Shijun, eleven and a half years; Mr. Ma Jun, eleven and a half years; Mr. Li Kai, eleven and a half years; Ms. Wang Guiqing, eight years. Currently, the six practitioners are being temporarily detained in the Qingcheng Prison. They might be sent to the Tianjing Chadian Prison.

On August 22, Li Jianhua, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Xingcheng Physiotherapy Hospital in Jinzhou City, was illegally sentenced to prison. He is currently being detained in the Xingcheng Detention Center.

On July 1, 2003, Cui Xiangjun was illegally arrested at Zhongguancun, Beijing City. One day before the "Two Conferences" in March of this year, the "610 Office" in the Changping District and police from the Public Security Bureau and National Security Bureau illegally abducted his wife Li Mingxia. Presently, his aged mother and ten-year-old son are living together without support.

During detention, Cui Xiangjun has insisted on his belief and resisted the evils with righteous thoughts. He has been beaten up many times, with wounds all over his body. He went on a hunger strike, protesting the persecution. Consequently, he was brutally force-fed and lost consciousness many times.

Li Yanyan, a practitioner from the Changping District of Beijing City, was arrested in the Anyuan Beili Residential District of the Beijing Asian Games Village in mid August. She is being detained in the Changping Detention Center. In order to resist the evils' persecution, she is on a hunger and water strike. However, the police keep torturing her, and her life is in great danger.

Kaiping practitioner He Shufeng was illegally arrested on August 28, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

On August 26, 2003, Song Baohua, a practitioner from the Taiping District of Harbin City, was illegally arrested while distributing truth-clarifying flyers. Security guards from the Longjiang Electricity Plant of Harbin City and policemen from the Xinyijie Police Substation abducted her. The location of her detention is as yet unknown. Song Baohua's father is paralyzed and in his seventies, and there is nobody to take care of him.

On August 22, 2003, practitioner Liu Yabo, 30-years-old, was illegally detained while distributing truth-clarifying materials at Songlingmen.

In late June, Chen Guilan, a 51-year-old practitioner from Shuangta District, was illegally arrested and detained. In early August, she was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. She was released, however, after an unsatisfactory medical exam. In mid-August, she was once again arrested while at home. This time she was sent directly to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

Bai Youwen, head of the National Security Team of the Shuangta Public Security Bureau in Chaoyang City, has been very actively involved in the persecution by extorting money from Falun Dafa practitioners. In the past few months alone, dozens of practitioners have been illegally arrested and several tens of thousands of yuan have been extorted from practitioners' family members. Li Yufang, a 51-year-old female practitioner from Yaotanghezi Village, West Xinzhuangzi Township, Jinzhou City, wrote on a wall in chalk, "Falun Dafa is good!" on August 5. Later on, she was reported. Currently she is being detained in the Huludao Detention Center. The National Security Bureau in Huludao City illegally sentenced her to one year of forced labor and planned to send her to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp on September 5.

It has been learned that clerks from "610 Offices" all over the country, including 12 from Beijing, came to Shuangcheng City to compare notes about their persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Their purpose was to come up with schemes to intensify the persecution in different areas of the country.

Vicious thugs in the Liaohe Oil Field are illegally arresting Falun Dafa practitioners on their way to work and sending them to the brainwashing class in Fushun City. This is the third time they have done this.

In the past two months, about nine practitioners were arrested in Wangkui County. Some practitioners' homes were searched over and over. Since 1999, about 40 practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained, persecuted, and had money extorted from them. The sum of money extorted amounts to over 300,000 Yuan. Many of the arrested practitioners were forced to write the so-called "statement of guarantee." If they refused, they were fined up to 10,000 yuan [equal to two years' income for an average worker in China--by translator]. Such an act of compromise unintentionally strengthened the evils.
