Broadly Based Clarification of the Facts to Various Branches of Canada's Judicial System -- Steps on the Path to Bringing Jiang to Justice in Canada
(Clearwisdom.net) Moving forward with actions to bring Jiang to justice in Canada,
practitioners are clarifying the truth to various branches of the Canadian legal system and to those
who work within it. Legal proceedings against Jiang are underway in Belgium, USA, and other
countries, and practitioners in many others are also preparing to file lawsuits against Jiang. In many Canadian cities, practitioners are working in a coordinated effort to clarify the facts
to judges and the judiciary. Practitioners are in the process of handing truth-clarifying materials
to several hundred judges and thousands of workers in various branches of Canada's government.
Professors of law faculties and university law students are being told the facts of the persecution,
as well, in efforts to expose the persecution as part of their curriculum. A search is being
conducted to find lawyers within the country to proceed with lawsuits against Jiang on behalf of
practitioners. The former Justice Minister of Canada, the Honorable Anne McClellan, is one of the Ministers of
the Cabinet who supports Falun Gong. In 2000, she sent a congratulatory letter brimming with warmth
during the Canadian Falun Dafa Week. The former Foreign Minister of Canada, the Honorable Lloyd
Axworthy, a well-known lawyer, had as early as 1999 stood up and publicly supported Falun Gong. Canadian practitioners are clarifying the facts to the entire judicial administration system so
that during the Prime Minister's upcoming visit to China he may once again raise the issue that
Canada is concerned about China's persecution of Falun Gong, and at the same time to better prepare
for filing lawsuits against Jiang in Canada. An annual conference of lawyers and those involved in the legal profession convened in Montreal
from August 16 to 19. More than 500 individuals attended, the most influential people in the legal
fraternity. During the conference, Falun Gong practitioners from Montreal and Ottawa provided a
large quantity of truth -clarifying materials to the participants. Many of the participants had some
understanding about the persecution before they attended the conference, and now have a much deeper
understanding of the situation. Canadian practitioners who have suffered from the persecution have intensified efforts to
document their cases for submission to the Canadian Government. They have also stepped up their
efforts urging the Canadian government to uphold justice, and asking Canada to pursue a public trial
of Jiang Zemin in an international court for the crimes he has committed. In the meantime, practitioners will take further steps to contact Amnesty International, the
United Nations Human Rights branch in Canada, and other well-known global human rights organizations
to urge the United Nations to put Jiang Zemin on trial in an international criminal court. Li Shenli, a practitioner who has been persecuted and tortured in China was subsequently rescued
by the Canadian Government said: "To bring Jiang Zemin to trial is to defend righteousness and
justice globally." September 5, 2003 |
