Raleigh, North Carolina: Proclamation of National Rescue Month to Rescue Charles Li and Forty US Family Members Imprisoned in China for Their Peaceful Practice of Falun Gong [September 15, 2003]
(Clearwisdom.net) On September 15, 2003, Mayor Charles Meeker of the City of Raleigh,
North Carolina, proclaimed September 2003 as National Rescue Month to rescue Charles Li and 40 US
family members imprisoned in China for their peaceful practice of Falun Gong. City of Raleigh Proclamation Charles Meeker Whereas, Falun Dafa practitioners have visited our city in support of
National Rescue Month to Rescue American Charles Li and Families being tortured in China and, Falun
Dafa is a self-improvement practice and system of exercises and teachings originating in ancient
Chinese culture that generate health for the mind and body and emphasize leading one's life
according to the principles of "Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance"; and, Whereas, U.S. Citizen Dr. Charles Li and the relatives of over 40 families in
the U.S. are suffering in Chinese jails and labor camps solely because of their Falun Dafa practice
and belief; and, Whereas, Falun Dafa consists of four simple exercises and a meditation. They
have proven to have wonderful physical and mental health benefits and are offered free of charge.
Individuals have been strengthened to leave behind addictions and bad habits, families to live in
harmony together, and communities to embrace what is virtuous and life affirming, U.S. Falun Dafa
practitioners and other practitioners around the world have faced a relentless persecution with
compassionate and non-violent action; and, Now, Therefore, I, Charles Meeker, Mayor of the City of Raleigh, do hereby
proclaim September, 2003, as "NATIONAL RESCUE MONTH TO RESCUE DR. CHARLES LI AND 40 U.S. FAMILY
MEMBERS IMPRISIONED IN THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA FOR THEIR PEACEFUL PRACTICE OF FALUN DAFA". In Witness Thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal to
